"Mercer" is a set to run vs a Match-up Zone. Start in a 1-2-2 alignment with post players on the blocks and guards on the wings.

  • 1-2-2 alignment. Play begins with a pass to either wing.

  • 1 passes to 2.
  • Guards interchange and ball side post player flashes to high post area.

  • 2 passes to 3.
  • 2 then cuts to low block and gets behind the zone. 3 immediately reverses ball to other wing.

  • As 1 catches, high post sets a ball screen as 3 drifts to wing. 1 must attack hard to create space for pass back to 4.

  • After screening the ball, 4 pops to receive throwback from 1. As 4 receives pass, 5 sets baseline screen for 2, and 4 looks to hit shooter in corner or post player sealing off the zone.
