About This Play/Drill

This drill exposes a shooter to various types of footwork that they may encounter in a game. It is often seen against a zone and can be practice from spots all over the floor and varios different ranges.  These frames show a 1-person practice typically using the toss-out as a pass to themselves.

  • Toss ball out to self and make front pivot for the shot.

  • Toss ball out to self and move forward and perform a 1-2 step into your shot.

  • Toss ball out to self and move forward and perform a 2-foot jump stop into your shot.

  • Toss ball out to side and defensive slide into your shot (corner drift).

  • Toss ball out to side and defensive slide into your shot (corner lift).

  • Toss ball up and catch it without moving your feet, then go straight into your shot.
