Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is another option out of a Horns look. Entering the ball at the elbow initiates "Elbow" pinch post action. In this example, the ballhandler goes to the strong side, initiating Elbow Strong, or strong side split action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMuch like Elbow Strong Action, in Elbow Weak the Point goes opposite of the elbow entry and plays split action on the weakside. The Point and the big can set a stagger screen for the wing, or the wing can curl the stagger and the Point receives a pin down. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe last Elbow look out of a Horns set, the Point can middle cut and go strong or weak to initiate Flex action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother look out of the Horns set is a Zipper option. While Zipper is always a great look for a wide pindown for a shooter, it can also set 2-man game action and give two of your best offensive weapons the opportunity the freelance and play off of each other. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Horns set can also be a starting point for the Loop or Iverson set. This is a good way to put your best ballhandler in a single or double Side P/R, and can be run for any player to be the ballhandler. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOle Miss ran this action in the first half of their First Round NCAA game against BYU. The pindown/catch and shoot action in this play is a decoy for the 5 to create seperation from his defender to set a high ballscreen. As 5's defender is late and can only Zone the ballscreen rather than Showing, the replace action by the 4 leaves 4's defender as the only option to bump the 5 when he rolls out of the screen. Depending on how the defense reacts, there are a number of different scoring options here for the 1, 4, and 5. In this game, Ole Miss PG Summers attacked the paint, drew the defense in, and dumped the ball off to the 5 for a foul at the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a quick hitter that BYU used in their NCAA First Round matchup with Ole Miss to get an easy midrange jumper for Haws, one of their best shooters. Against a 2-guard front, the Ole Miss 1-3-1 zone mimics a 2-3 zone. Here the 4 man passes and cuts hard to the block off of the screen from the 5 man. This forces x5 to pick up the cut to the post. The 5 man turns and sets a quick downscreen for the 1, who flashes to the free throw line. This quick action creates confusion between x4 and x2 and results in an easy look for a great shooter. Favorite Send to FastDrawBYU ran this misdirection play against Ole Miss in the NCAA First Round. It starts with a stagger screen for the 1 man, a dangerous shooter. While this happens, 2 sets a token ballscreen for the ballhandler and immediately slips the screen. The 1 man curls the stagger and clears while the 5 man turns back and sets a flare screen for the 2 after he slipped the ballscreen. A great defensive effort by x2 prevented a 3 point shot here, but the 2 man still made a quick read and drove baseline to the basket for a foul. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawRobert Morris used this play in the second half against North Florida in NCAA First Four action. This is a common NBA hawk set sometimes known as 351. The 3 man's defender has all of the work here, as he must commit to helping on the hawk screen just enough to force a difficult Show on the side p/r, and then must recover back to the pick and pop. In this game, UNF was aware of the play and x2 cheated off of his man to rotate to the 3 man on the pick and pop. Lucky Jones was still able to get the defender off his feet, however, and drew a 3 shot foul. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is another common NBA set that Robert Morris ran in the 2nd half against North Florida. Out of a Horns look, Robert Morris ran this Elbow strongside split action where 3 curled on the pin down and 1 bumped back to receive a DHO from the 5 man. A good screen from the 1 man set up a great double pin down by 4 and 2, which took out x3 and resulted in a wide open 3 pointer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawRobert Morris ran this play with 3 minutes to go and a small lead over North Florida to get an open mid-range jumper. Starting out of a 1-4 set, the 1 hits the wing and pins down for the 4 man to receive a ball reversal. 1 continues under the rim while 5 rips 3 under the rim. From here, it turns into common Blast action. 5 pins for 1 to receive a DHO with 4. 3 and 2 time their pin down so that 3 comes off of the screen right after 1 receives the DHO, setting up an open mid-range jumper. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn their NCAA matchup with Notre Dame, Northeastern displayed a wonderful motion offense with great movement, multiple ballscreens, and very active bigs. In this play, they set up their motion with a thru cut by the 1, and the result is a duck-in opportunity for the 5 man. Northeastern was able to draw a foul in the post here and put Notre Dame in foul trouble early. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawNortheastern ran this play successfully multiple times down the stretch against Notre Dame. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawNotre Dame ran this action in their NCAA tournament game against Northeastern. This is just one of several options that Notre Dame ran that use some of the same principles as Virginia's Mover-Blocker offense. See More
