Favorite Send to FastDrawIn the first few games of the NBA season, the Boston Celtics have played 5 Out Offense. I have attached a few diagrams of what it looks like. I call it 5 OUT SAME - because they initiate their offense with action on the first side of the floor. Essentially, the action consists of guard to guard screening action resulting in a side pick and roll (or DHO). See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Golden State Warriors ran this during the second quarter of their season opening game against the San Antonio Spurs. They used a variation of the wedge play where a guard sets a high screen for a post player who then cuts into a ball screen or post up. In this version the Warriors used false action of the ball reversal and dribble handoff before getting into the wedge ball screen action. They also added a flare screen up top for a secondary option in this play. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Boston Celtics summer league team used this play as their regular sideline out of bounds offense. Having the 5 pop up top to receive inbounds pass gives them a safe outlet since most 5's won't deny the ball that far up the floor. 1 comes off of multiple screens before looking for the inbounder (2) on the flare screen. If 2 isn't open. 1 uses the ball screen from 5 to create a scoring opportunity. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith the Boston Celtics trailing by 3 points with 12.3 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter in their pre-season game versus the Philadelphia 76ers, Brad Stevens ran this set to create an open 3-point shot for James Young. However, Timothe Luwawu-Cabaroot does an excellent job of anticipating and getting over the flare screen to prevent the shot. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawFlex is a very common action in all levels, high school to NBA. At the highest levels, if a team wants optimal posting position off a flex screen, they must disguise that a flex screen is coming by running false movement early in the set. Jeff Hornacek did this with the Suns, mixing it in with his pitch offense. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith 41.4 seconds left in the Bronze medal game of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Australia ran this ATO Hammer action for Patty Mills. Mills was denied the flare cut to the corner, and made the read to cut to the nail for the pass and shot. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThe ballhandler dribbles off of a horns ball screen. The ball screener then gets a flare screen for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawNigeria runs this as a counter to their regular Chin sets. 1 would normally use the back screen from 5, but in this play he goes over the flare from 4. After getting the ball, 1 drives baseline looking for an open shot off the hammer screen from 5 or for 2 filling behind. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawSpain often runs a unique entry into their Horns sets. They start with an elevator screen for 3, which gets him the ball in the top of the key area. 1 & 2 then cut to the corners to get into the Horns formation. They have different options depending on who sets the ball screen. If 5 sets the screen, he rolls to the basket and 4 pops. If 4 sets the screen, he immediately goes off of a flare screen from 5. If nothing is available 5 follows the ball for a pick & roll. Blog Post: Offensive Actions Breakdown - Elevator Screens See More
