New Mexico State almost pulled off the comeback, as they trailed by 7, with a minute left in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. WIth the ball on the baseline, and under 2 seconds left, NMSU ran a fake lob, screen-the-screener action. It resulted in a wide open three, that did not drop. Coach Blly Donovan ran this special SLOB play late in game to find a corner 3pt shot. Starting with a stagger screen for 3 to get the ball at the top, then 2 clears to the opposite corner and 4 clears out respectively. 5 relocates to low post area and 1 sprints towards 3, in order to fake a ball screen. 1 slips and pops (slide action) to the gap at the wing area, forcing x2 to rotate, leaving 2 player open in the corner. 5 should block x5 from rotating to the corner.
