Favorite Send to FastDrawUCONN Women's Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma uses this play on occasion to free up a shooter and a post for good looks at a shot. While the PG isolates and dribbles on the wing there is a lot of misdirection action in traffic near the paint. I like to think of this play a little bit like an off-centered Triple Screen that leads into a post cross screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play has been a staple for years with any team that has Steve Nash at the point. In Phoenix, both Mike D'Antoni and Alvin Gentry ran this as a quick-hitter to get the ball into the post for an easy layup or dunk. Nash would set a screen for either Amare Stoudemire or Marcin Gortat and free them up at the rim. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Indiana Pacers ran this quick hitter at the end of the half in Game 5 of the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals vs Miami. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Nets ran this Secondary Offense set in the 2003 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Byron Scott sought to post Kenyon Martin, the trailer, and get a flare screen for Kidd so he could knock down a three pointer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis was a Secondary Offense set the Washington Wizards would run if they felt they had a mismatch in the post with Nene. John Wall would push Nene, the trailer, backdoor, which indicated to the rim runner that he should raise and set a ballscreen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA good action to get your post the ball on the block. The post has 2 opportunities to recieve a cross screen and score. The play can finish in a screen the screener action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn his coaching debut Friday night in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, Steve Clifford ran this quick hitting curl-post play for the Charlotte Bobcats. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA set Indiana ran to get Cody Zeller a touch on the block. This would be a great counter, if you have the scissor action in your offense. 2 has to sell that he is cutting to score, to get x5 behind on the play. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a quick hitter that can be run effectively against man to man so long as the offense reads the defense correctly. The effectiveness of this play lies in the screen the screener action that occurs between 2 and 3. 2 will always curl this screen looking to score, if 3's defender helps on 2, 1 should look to hit 3 in the short corner for a shot oppertunity. Favorite Send to FastDrawPut a ball on each chair, have your players get low and grab the ball of the chair and take a large and long drop-step dribble toward the rim. Do this drill for either 30 seconds or 1 minute. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawTuesday morning during their NBA Orlando Summer League game the Boston Celtics ran this post up action for Kelly Olynyk. What I love about this plays is usueally teams post up the player where the 3 is after 2 tries to rub into X3. But since X5 has to sit outside the lane or touch 5 this is a great set to run in the NBA because the floor is spaced for a nice post up on the block. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Orlando Magic ran this action on versus the Boston Celtics during the 2013 Orlando Summer League. This is just another option out of the elbow set that I discussed several weeks ago! With the defense in helpside position (especially in high school in college where defensive 3 seconds is not a rule), this is a great action if you have bigger guards to duck and seal hard in the middle of the lane for a quick turn and finish. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play contains several scoring opportunities. From a double stack 3 and 2 cut opposite to get open for shots. On ball reversal to 4, 5 is isolated in the paint for high low pass. On ball reversal to 2, 3 slashes for the ball as 5 and 4 double screen for 1, freeing him at the top of the key. Give it a try! Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother series Atlanta ran in their win over the Sun on 6/23. The set begins with a simple cross screen and from there the ball can go inside or outside. The key to the play is Atlanta has a versitile Olympian at the 4. She's a 6'1 guard/forward who can finish inside, shoot the three or drive the ball to the basket. The cross screen-rip screen post iso was an effective way to get the ball in the post. See More
