Basketball Play - Las Vegas Aces - Baseline Double Cross

Las Vegas Aces - Baseline Double Cross

Aseem Rastogi 04/17/2019

One of the two base offenses for the Aces is this simple baseline cross set. The spacing and the left side entry take advantage of the Aces' personnel, as their point guard (Kelsey Plum) and 5 (A'Ja Wilson) are both left handed. The set starts with both wings crossing under the rim off brush pindowns from 4 and 5, followed by a wing entry and an immediate post feed. There are several subsequent options that allow the Aces to get great looks at the basket. When you have a dynamic scorer like Kayla McBride, you MUST find a way to get them the ball where and when they want it. The Aces drink from this well quite often, as they try to get McBride coming off a double stagger on the baseline. She is so adept at using screens and is one of the most explosive players in the world - this quick hitter allows her to get the ball with a quick shot/drive decision and plenty of space to work with. Las Vegas Aces - Horns Flex

Las Vegas runs a beautiful Horns set which allows plenty of options for their dynamic scorers to get the ball where they want it the most. Early in the season, Vegas ran this and utilized the Flex action well. As teams started scouting, they went to the secondary action which is to reject the initial Flex screen from the cutting passer, and instead use the double stagger. Simple, but effective, this quick hitter is used to get an open high low catch in the post to score. If that is not open, the screener is then isolated against a defender closing fast, creating an immediate shot/drive decision. The Aces pull this rabbit out of the hat to open the quarter and give a completely different look than their base offenses. There are multiple scoring options here including a flare skip, a 1 on 1 at the elbow, or an empty corner drive if the UCLA cut and pass is not there. Basketball Play - Toronto Raptors - Swirl

Toronto Raptors - Swirl

Cooper Smither 04/10/2019

The play, which can be initiated from SLOB (Sideline out of Bounds) scenarios or a normal half-court possession, is a set that involves a lot of player and ball movement around a post up. Nick Nurse has utilized it quite often to leverage the playmaking abilities of his players that feel comfortable making plays out of the post. Specifically, Marc Gasol and Pascal Siakam are usually the main decision makers as the remaining off-ball Raptors screen and cut for one another ot occupy the defense's attention. See More

Here's a set we have gotten a lot of mileage out of and run for different players, from different positions where we feel we have advantages and on both sides of the floor. Furthermore, it can get 3 great looks at any point in the game based on what you are looking for with regards to situation and score. Can also adapt slightly and run as a Zipper Set SLOB and net the same looks. See More
