Basketball Play - Dribble Drive Motion: 1v1 Dribble Attacks

Dribble Drive Motion: 1v1 Dribble Attacks

Michael Lynch 07/04/2018

As part of #PlayerDevelopmentWeek I am putting together a series of drill progressions that we use in order to develop skills to fit our Dribble Drive Motion Offense. In this first installment we are looking at developing "Dribble Attacks." These are quick and simple dribble attacks that we emphasize in both the half court and transition settings. Mainly we are looking at attacking a defender who is isolated in the elbow or slot area. We would like our players to make a quick aggressive move and attack that defender to the rim. The three "Dribble Attacks" that we teach are 1) In & Out Dribble, 2) Hesitation, and 3) Crossover. The 1v1 Dribble Attacks Drill Below is a simple drill but one that will combine Dribble Attacks and Finishing at the Rim. The two versions represent two common tactics; sagging defenses and overly aggressive on-ball defenses. Basketball Play - 11 Man Fast Break Drill

11 Man Fast Break Drill

Michael Lynch 06/24/2018

The 11 Man Fastbreak is one of our players' favorite drills. It is essentially a continous 3 on 2 transition drill that we use to emphasize pitch aheads and "Finding Advantages." This is generally a drill where I try not to blow the whistle much, but I will blow the whistle if we are straying from our transtion principles. I generally choose to emphasize 1) Running the Sideline Hard, 2) Hunting Pitch Ahead Passes, 3) Keeping Advantages Alive, and 4) Attacking the Rim. Basketball Play - Around the Horn 3v3

Around the Horn 3v3

Michael Shaughnessy 11/10/2017

This is a great way to get into 3v3 as all 6 players move the ball around the horn before getting into live play. This forces the defense to sprint into closeouts, and the offense to reverse the ball quicker than the defense can get to its match up. 2 ways to play: - Offense scores, stay on O. - Defense has to get 3 stops in a row. Basketball Play - Jerry Sloan Utah Series

Jerry Sloan Utah Series

Timothy Hipps 11/06/2017

"Utah" is a package of four plays based on the 1-4 High Offense utilized by Jerry Sloan during the peak of his tenure with the Utah Jazz. The play begins with a pass and a UCLA cut, often followed by a ballscreen. Ball screens after a UCLA cut are extremely hard to cover as defenders are out of position. Take a look at the base "Utah" play in the video, and see the diagram for 3 other options to go to once a defense attempts adjustments. See More

Basketball Play - Dr. Dish 32 Shooting

Dr. Dish 32 Shooting

Jordan Petersen 11/03/2017

Competitive Dr. Dish shooting drill that works on floaters, pull ups, 3's and free throws. A floater is worth 1 point, a pull up is worth 2 points, a three pointer is worth 3 points and each free throw is worth 1 point. A player performs each shot from all of the five spots. If a player makes all of the shots, their score will be 32 points. See More
