Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a NBA Golden State Warriors Dribble Hand-Off / Pick and Roll Action from Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. Steve Kerr is doing an excellent job in getting great motion and action into his set plays for their players. The Golden State Warriors are the team that I want to watch in the NBA Play-offs for my new sets. Steve Kerry has installed a system that is like the NBA San Antonio Spurs in it's movement, flow and creativity. The starters and reserves have bought into this system all season. David Lee is even getting a second chance in these NBA Playoffs. He is seizing the moment too. Stephy Curry and Klay Thompson are indeed the Splash Brothers and either of them can go off for 20 points in a quarter at any moment. Curry is the MVP, but Thompson is likely to go off on any night. They were one of the best teams ever in the regular season, despite the trip up from the always difficult Memphis Grizzlies. I love this action and you will notice that I chose a play where Steph Curry isn't in the game. It's an example of how their reserves have bought in. Favorite Send to FastDrawIowa State using the point forward concept. Backscreen after the dribble handoff for the post up then screen the screener for potential three point shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawCoach Tom Izzo from Michigan State University is one of the best in the game at "special team" situations. Here is one of his SLOB sets used with his teams, with multiple options. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawStruggling to score against Golden State in Game 5, Dave Joerger called a timeout and setup a nice "Blind Pig" set to get an easy score. Knowing that Golden State was playing aggressive and overhelping on any screen that a guard cut off of, he had Gasol flash to the high post after Conley exited the screen and received the ball. After he caught the ball, Conley cut backdoor with his man on the high side, and Gasol hit him with a nice backdoor pass for a floater. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn the playoffs, alot of teams attack mismatches, and Golden State has been no different. This postseason when the first option off the backscreen is covered, he had Klay Thompson & Harrison Barnes both post up against weaker opponent guarding them. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith John Wall going down with an injury, the Wizards turned to Bradley Beal to be a facilitator and scorer in his absence. Wittman setup a nice set to create movement and to get Beal coming off a dribble handoff and get an open look. First Beal passes to the wing and then cuts off a UCLA screen from the big at the elbow, and then sits down in the post. The guard on the wing passes to the elbow and sets a down screen for Beal who then receives a dribble handoff from the big and looks to attack. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawEven when the Rockets weren't punishing the Mavericks in round one with the Josh Smith-Dwight Howard pick and roll combination, they still found ways to take advantage of the defense and connect for lobs. This is a simple 1-4 high pick, with a throwback to Smith. He immediately goes into Side P/R action with James Harden, or DHO in this case. This is hard work for x4, Dirk, who shows hard on the DHO. Note the 1 and 3 switching spots on the weakside, which makes x1, JJ Barea, the low defender. As Harden hits Smith on the roll, x5 must pull over to stop the drive. JJ Barea is sitting on Howard's top leg like he is supposed to be, but that hardly matters. This is an easy Smith to Howard lob. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw1 dribbles right then back to the top of the key pushing 4 to the block and 3 to the corner. As 1 dribbles left, 5 flashes to the high post. Once 5 has the ball, he looks to pass inside to 4. If 4 isn't open, 5 gives the ball to 3 on a dribble hand-off and 2 screens across the lane for 4. If 4 isn't open, 5 screens down for 2 for a shot on the wing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this quick hitter, 1 dribbles right giving the ball to 2 on a dribble hand-off. On the weak side, 4 and 5 set a staggered screen for 3 who cuts up for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw1 dribbles to the left wing giving the ball to 3 on a dribble hand-off. 3 dribbles middle then swings the ball to 2. At the same time, 5 screens across for 4. If 4 isn't open, he sprints out to the wing as if he is going to set a ball-screen for 2. 4 slips the screen and 5 elevates. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother new set the Cavaliers have ran in the Chicago Bulls series has been a set that Doc Rivers ran with Rajon Rondo in Boston and now with Chris Paul in Los Angeles. With Tyronn Lue being an assistant and a main cog in the Cavs system this year, he added this set for Kyrie to get on the move and receive a dribble handoff and attack. The set starts with a pass to the wing and cuts through towards the rim. As Kyrie cuts through the ball is reversed to the top of the key and Kyrie cuts off a double screen from 2 & 4 into a dribble handoff from 5. Kyrie looks to attack initially and if he is stopped, 5 steps up and sets a spread ballscreen for 1. See More
