Basketball Play - Box Overload Clear Out

Box Overload Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a sideline clear out from a box alignment. The set uses a coordinated movement of bodies to create the space for the PG to attack. Basketball Play - Fake DHO Hammer/Clear

Fake DHO Hammer/Clear

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at play design for a point guard to drive the ball to an empty baseline. They can decide to drive as an isolation, or to skip the pass to the back side for a hammer set. Either way, the defense is misdirected with the fake hand off, and stretched side to side with the hammer action. This set is gold. Basketball Play - Push Reject Clear Out

Push Reject Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a clear out for a point guard to drive an empty baseline. This looks like a dribble entry into the euro ball screen. That was always my favorite feature of the euro ball screen offense - rejecting the screen to the empty baseline. Basketball Play - Overload PG Clear Out

Overload PG Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a simple overload set. I don't think there is any other option on this play, just a simple clear out. Basketball Play - Fake DHO Clear Out

Fake DHO Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a clear out option for a point guard. Fake handoffs on the wing are great misdirection to set up the baseline drive, especially when paired with something where the handoff is used. Basketball Play - Box Gate Clear Out SLOB

Box Gate Clear Out SLOB

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a SLOB for an empty side clear out for the point guard. This is so simple. There is not really any advantage through the action other than space, so you need a playmaker that can create 1 on 1. Box Overload Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a empty side clear out for the point guard. This is so simple. If you have a crafy, bully point guard, this is a set option for you. Basketball Play - Flat Stagger Clear Out

Flat Stagger Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a empty side clear out for the point guard. To run this at the end of clock a couple times a game is a simple option that will let your PG create with no advantage. You need to develop options off of this concept to use it more often. Horns Push Zip IversonI Clear

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a empty side clear out for the point guard. I like this action because it creates movement for the defense before getting to the clear out. Horns Elevator Clear (Early Offense)

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a early offense option out of the horns push gate series. The gate action keeps a lot of defense occupied, and creates space for the point guard clear out. Basketball Play - Elevator Clear Out

Elevator Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/11/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a early offense set to attack in transition, usually with limited time on the clock. The design is mostly used to get a point gaurd space, but I think the shooter will be open sometimes as well. Basketball Play - Transition Brush Flare

Transition Brush Flare

Matt Hackenberg 04/08/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a designed transition flow to create confusion for the defense, and a gap to attack for the offense. I love how quick and smoothe the offense gets into the action. It's easy to see defenses miscommunicating this action. Basketball Play - Overload Clear Out

Overload Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/08/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set to create some space for an elite driver. It has some movement, but is reletively simple. It creates a lot of space, clearing out the entire side for the driver instead of leaving a shooter in the corner to make a decision. Basketball Play - High Ball Screen Throwback Chicago

High Ball Screen Throwback Chicago

Matt Hackenberg 04/08/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set with some nice false action to get to a gap drive. I'm a big fan of using the pin down into the DHO action, so adding a little more misdirection with the ball screen throwback makes the set even more interesting to me.
