In their NCAA matchup with Notre Dame, Northeastern displayed a wonderful motion offense with great movement, multiple ballscreens, and very active bigs. In this play, they set up their motion with a thru cut by the 1, and the result is a duck-in opportunity for the 5 man. Georgetown ran this 4 around 1 set throughout their Round 2 matchup with Eastern Washington. The Hoyas used several different variations of the set utilizing the similar setup but unpredictable result. The action pictured is the base set. Dribble handoffs, double screens, flare screens, and back screens were all used out of this based set. NC State used this BLOB play in the second half against LSU. The play is meant to get a 3-point shot by running 2 off of a double screen at the free-throw line. However, NC State makes a good read and the point guard takes his man to the basket after 3 clears to the opposite side of the floor. 1 drives to the basket and forces LSU to foul on the penetration. Stephen F. Austin ran this BLOB set against Utah late in the 2nd half of their Round 2 matchup. The Lumberjacks were within striking distance of the Utes and needed quality scoring opportunities. This play worked to perfection but the open 3 didn't fall. This multiple action set utilizes misdirection for the shooter followed by a stagger. Arkansas runs a very basic pass and screen away attack from their 4-out transition alignment. They keep things very basic in the half court as their primary goal is to shoot and score quickly with their Fastest 40 attack. Often the trailing post downscreens for wings sprinting to the baseline. When a player passes, he screens away or basket cuts. The Hogs stay in four-out and pass, screen away and/or cut. See More

NC State used this play early in the 1st half to get an open shot for Trevor Lacey. The play starts with an entry pass to the wing and a UCLA cut from 1 to the low post. Once 3 (Lacey) gets the ball at the top of the key, he has the option to pass to 1 for a shot or to pass to 4 flashing to the pinch post. LSU used this play in the first half against NC State. On the sideline, LSU lines up with Hornsby in the corner (3). 1 passes the ball into 4 then 4 dribbles across the floor and passes back to 1. Hornsby then sets a cross-screen for 5. 4 sets a down screen for Hornsby who cuts up to the top of the key for a 3-point shot. It looks like LSU needs to keep finding Hornsby to stay in this game. Purdue runs a nice BLOB vs 2-3 zone. The initial action is not what gets a layup, its the combination of all 5 players moving at the same time. The keys to this set is 3 slipping into the middle of the zone after inbounding the ball and at the same time 5 slips his screen to look for the ball, with two wing players distracting the wing defenders, this action forces the zone to guard either the wings who can shoot it or the bigs inside. VCU ran this BLOB set late in the 2nd half against Ohio State who was playing man defense. VCU got a wide open layup from their 5 that was missed. In the set 2/3 use a double screen from 4/5. The first man through (2) goes to the corners immediately followed by the second cut (3) who goes to the wing. As the final cut is made the 5 dives to the rim. This set is also seen in Billy Donovan's playbook. Shaka Smart was an assistant for Donovan before his time at VCU. See More
