Basketball Play - 1-2-2 Flex Offense Entry

1-2-2 Flex Offense Entry

Matt Hackenberg 12/07/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we are looking at an entry into the flex offense. This is a methodical continuity set, aimed at getting the defense to slip up on defending screens off the ball. I like all the cutting, screening and movement. I think it limits penetration opportunities to a certain extent, and makes your players a bit robotic running the pattern. But time has proven, the flex offense can be very effective, especially at the high school level. Flex SLOB

Matt Hackenberg 12/16/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to get into the flex offense. The flex offense has stood the test of time. Every year I've been a head coach we've had a BLOB, SLOB or set play option for the flex offense. 1-3-1 Zone Offense: Low Back Screen Continuity - "Bear"

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

This offense was implemented to help incorporate constant screening and cutting into a continuity offense. There are options to score on cuts, post ups, down screening and slips. We've found wrinkles and set plays from within the base offense that have been effective. Basketball Play - Indiana Pacers - Horns Flex

Indiana Pacers - Horns Flex

Tony Miller 05/08/2021

Watch the video below as Coach Tony Miller uses FastDraw, the #1 play diagramming program for basketball coaches, to break down this set from the NBA’s Indiana Pacers. Occasionally, you can get a layup from the brush screen in frame 1, but more likely you’ll enjoy the multiple options from the Flex action in frame 2. So many great options in this one: 1 on the brush screen, 2 on the post up, 1 for a 3pt look after the pin down, and finally a catch for 5 on the left block after screening.
