Basketball Play - Kansas Jayhawks - Diamond Overload Lob

Kansas Jayhawks - Diamond Overload Lob

Rory Hamilton 03/21/2024

This is KU's go to play to overload and isolate a post player for a lay-up or dunk. The play begins in a diamond alignment and the 2 comes off the deep pindown by the 5. On 2's catch, the 4 sprints to set a fake ball screen to clear out the weak side help and pull his defender away from a potential double team. The guard then throws the lob pass over the top of the defense for a dunk or easy lay-in. The 3 and 1 must stay above the FT line to occupy the help defense on the weak side. See More

Basketball Play - Overload Clear Out

Overload Clear Out

Matt Hackenberg 04/08/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set to create some space for an elite driver. It has some movement, but is reletively simple. It creates a lot of space, clearing out the entire side for the driver instead of leaving a shooter in the corner to make a decision. Basketball Play - Zone Set: Ball Screen Overload

Zone Set: Ball Screen Overload

Matt Hackenberg 02/24/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a zone set to overload the defense. This play can really stress a zone by screening off a defender, engaging the gap of the next defender, and then leaving 1 defender to guard 2 players on the back side.
