Basketball Play - Double Flare to Ball Screen

Double Flare to Ball Screen

Daniel Murphy 04/29/2013

Opening play from the first game of OKC/Houston, 4/21/13, which OKC won 120-91. This play starts with misdirection, running the teams most potent scorer off of a double flare screen. The two bigs then rescreen for the best driver on the team. A shooter spaces in the weakside corner to stretch the floor. See More

The Sacramento Kings ran this play with less than a minute to go in their 112-108 loss to the Clippers on 4/17/13. DeMarcus Cousins scored 36 points in the game and this is one of back to back inbounds plays he scored on. Although you might not have DeMarcus Cousins on your team, this will work for your best post player or any other player who you feel has a mismatch in the foul line area. See More

The Sacramento Kings ran this sideline inbounds play with less than one minute left in their 112-108 loss to the Clippers on 4/17/2013. DeMarcus Cousins had a big game scoring 36 points and scored on two inbounds plays with less than a minute left to keep the game close. Basketball Play - Loop SBS

Loop SBS

Daniel Murphy 04/27/2013

The Warriors ran this play a couple times in the fourth quarter of their 99-88 win over the Trailblazers on 4/17/13. It was a back and forth game in the fourth quarter until the Warriors went on a run. This play is a simple entry into a side ball screen. If you can get your best play maker coming off the ball screen and best roller setting the screen, with shooters spacing the floor this play will work well for you. See More

Basketball Play - Point of Board Shooting

Point of Board Shooting

Daniel Murphy 04/25/2013

I got this drill from Dr. Hal Wissel, former assistant coach to Hubie Brown with the Memphis Grizzlies. He uses it at his Shoot it Better mini camps. It is very similar to the Navy Shooting drill Bert DeSalvo shared with Fastmodel http://www.fastmodelsports.com/library/basketball/fastdraw/1567/play-Navy-Shooting This drill will show the shooter when their mechanics are perfect. After focusing on a target as small as the point of the backboard, the rim seems much larger. Dr. Wissel believes in doing this 100 times per day. I have my players shoot 10 perfect shots before moving on to the next drill. See More

Basketball Play - Michigan Finishing

Michigan Finishing

Daniel Murphy 04/23/2013

Demonstrated by Michigan's John Beilein at a clinic. Great drill for first step explosion and finishing with contact and defensive pressure. 1 must explode past the defender in order to get 2 on his/her hip. Then finish strong at the rim. 2 should contest but not get in the habit of fouling. See More

Basketball Play - Connecticut Sun Zone Offense

Connecticut Sun Zone Offense

Daniel Murphy 04/22/2013

This play was run by the Connecticut Sun in the 20012 season. It's a great set against a 2-3 to get your playmaker some space on the wing to shoot or drive against the zone. If you can get the timing of frame 4 and frame 5 down it will really give some time and space to your play maker to attack the zone. See More

This early offense set was run by the San Antonio Spurs in the second quarter of their game against the Golden State warrios 4/15/2013. It starts with a post look for the first big down the court in transition. Is followed by a baseline cut from the guard who makes the entry pass to the post and finishes with a cut to the basket for a layup by a guard off of a screen from the trailing big. See More

Basketball Play - Zone Inbounds- Low Stack

Zone Inbounds- Low Stack

Daniel Murphy 04/20/2013

We have run this play with great success at the freshmen, junior varsity, and u15 aau level. It is a very simple, yet effective baseline inbounds play against a 2-3 zone. Make sure 1 is your best shooter so if the defense stays home, you have a wide open look at a 3, or to drag the defense to the corner to open up the screening action inside. See More
