An easy way to get 2-3 ball reversals as well as an opportunity to cut across the defender's face (Face Cuts) for lay-up opportunities. This play loosens up the defense and provides multiple ways to score the ball.
1 dribbles toward 2. 2 shallow cuts and they essentially trade places. 3 gets open and receives the pass from 1.
After passing to 3, 1 immediately makes a Basket Cut (preferrably in front of the defender's face). Then, 2 Basket Cuts to the ballside block (preferrably in front of the defender's face). 3 should pass to the first open cutter for a lay-up opportunity.
After 2 cuts to the basket, 4 sets up a cut and comes of 5's Down Screen at the elbow. 3 passes to 4.
1 fills to Foul Line Extended and receives pass from 4. 2 sets Backscreen for 3.
After passing to 1, 4 Basket Cuts (preferrably in front of the defender's face) on the ballside of 5. 3 spaces out. 5 sets a Down Screen for 2, who cuts to the top of the key (or curl for a mid-range shot or lay-up). 1 can pass to either 4 or 2 for shots.
