About This Play/Drill

This is a play Mike White and the Florida Gators ran numerous times during their first round game vs. Va Tech. The play uses a pitch back and back screen to force the defense to guard two actions before setting up a spread PNR. The play looks to get a lob at the rim or a throwback to the guard on the weak side for a 3pt shot.

  • Horns Set Alignment: Play begins with a down screen by 4 to free up guard around the slot area. The 4 then clears to the weakside wing after screening.

  • After the catch the 3 pitches ball back to the point guard and then gets ready to come off backscreen by the 5 man. The 4 and 2 space out on the weak side.

  • The 3 then clears out strong side if lob is not open and then point guard comes off high PNR by the 5 man.

  • As the PNR takes place the 4 man sets a pindown screen to occupy the defense while the 5 man sprints to the rim for the lob. If 3's defender tags the lob then PG skips to the 3 for an open 3pt shot.
