Cincinnati ran this play in the second round of the NCAA tournament against Purdue. It should be emphasized how open 1 will get off of 5's back screen, if 1 cuts hard and 5 looks for him - if players do a poor job setting up this action, it will make it that much harder to effectively get open off the elevator screen (defender will top-lock elevator cut). It is vitally important that after 4 helps set stagger screen with 5, that he seals aggressively... If 4 does a good job sealing, he will at the very least get a high-low catch from 5.
Play starts by 5 cutting hard to the high elbow - into horns set.
After 1 passes to 5, 1 receives back screen from 4.
5 first looks for 1 cutting to the rim, if 1 is not open, 5 passes to 3.
After passing to 3, 5 and 4 set elevator screen for 1.
3 passes to 1, 5 and 4 go to the low blocks.
1 reverses to 2, 5 ad 4 set stagger screen along baseline for 3. After 1 passes to 2, he cuts away and 2 dribbles over to fill 1's spot.
If 3 cannot make a scoring play for himself on the catch off the screen, he immediately looks inside. If 3 cannot make direct pass to 4, 5 flashes to the high post and looks high-low.
