Play of the Day 12-02-2011: Step Up-Baseline Stagger - FastModel Sports

Today's "Play of the Day" is a set that the Boston Celtics ran last year. This is a great set to use when the defense is forcing ball screen action to the baseline.
By setting the screen towards the baseline, the offense is able to suck the defense down the floor, and set up both the pin down as well as the baseline stagger.

2 starts the action by using 4's ball screen on the side. 3 cuts to the block as 1 fills the top and 4 pops for the throwback from 2.

4 then sets a pin screen for 2 as 3 and 5 set a staggered double on the baseline. 2 can read the defense and go either way to get the ball back for a shot.
