This drill is from Coach Don Showalter, head coach of the USA U16 team. This drill puts players in game-like pick & roll situations and gets shots for 3 players on each repetition.
This drill has 3 lines (1 with guards, 1 with wings, and 1 with post players).
A Coach is set on the wing with a ball.
The drill starts with G passing to W. G then cuts through the lane to the opposite corner and sets up for a shot.
Once W has the ball, P moves up from the baseline to set a wing ball-screen for W.
In this option, W hits P on the roll. P scores with a dunk or lay-up.
The 2nd Post player on the baseline passes to W at the elbow for a shot.
Coach passes to G in the corner. G shoots the 3.
The Post on the pick and roll follows his shot and takes the ball to the baseline.
G and W both rebound their own shots and pass back out to G and Coach, respectively.
G and W run back to the lines where they started.
In option 2, G passes to W and cuts to the opposite corner just as in option 1.
P moves up from the baseline to set a wing ball-screen for W.
W drives to the elbow, but instead of passing to P on the roll he passes to G in the corner for a shot.
The post player on the baseline hits P who is popping to the short corner.
The coach passes to W at the elbow for a shot.
All three players get their own rebound and move back into line.
