Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Portland Trailblazers ran "3 Down" Tuesday night in their game versus the Chicago Bulls during the 2013 NBA Las Vegas Summer League. In this play it is 1's option to use the pick & roll or pass to 3 for a shot or pick & roll. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Sacramento Kings ran this half-court set this week during the 2013 NBA Last Vegas Summer League. Their execution of this play was top notch getting all the way to the ending of the play. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis drill is just an extension of the Rim Finishes Drill I posted earlier today. This is a great series of moves that every player should add to their arsenal to work on to perfect. The ability to change direction and finish around the rim are key elements for players who want to play basketball at a high level. When I performed this drill I had each player make each finish 3 times before moving onto the next move. You can adjust this accordingly as you see fit. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOne problem many young players face and something the pro's have perfected, is the ability to create space by setting up your defender for a move. In this drill I taught our players to jab at the rim to get the defender off and then jab in another direction to get the defense to recover to a side. Once you get the defense to a side you can then make a move and attack. Utilizing coaches/managers with pads in areas where the player will experience contact enhances this drill to the fullest. The coach/manager on the ball try to slap at the arms/ball to teach your players to be strong with the ball when jabbing and ripping through for a move. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother finish to the Miami Heat's dribble handoff, Iverson cut entry. This time they hit the first screener on the iverson cut popping back to the ball. 2 follows his pass and gets a short pass back from 4 moving to the open side of the floor. He drives it deep as 1 cracks back to set a deep side ball screen in the mid range area. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Nets ran this Secondary Offense set in the 2003 NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. Byron Scott sought to post Kenyon Martin, the trailer, and get a flare screen for Kidd so he could knock down a three pointer. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Miami Heat loved to enter their offense with a dribble handoff into an iverson cut. This set ends with the 2 who set a screen in the iverson cut, cracking back to set a ball screen for #6 Lebron James to an open side of the floor. Using the screen to get deep then the 4 who set the last screen in the iverson cut comes and sets a ball screen at a really deep angle. Tough to defend. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis year the Washington Wizards didn't have a successful win-loss percentage, but when their best lineup was in healthy, their offense was very potent. Coach Randy Wittman used the "Zipper Triple Flare" as an action to free up his shooters on the perimeter and give John Wall the ability to read the play both with and without the ball. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAnother example of the Miami Heat using a dribble handoff to enter their offense and then running a player off two screens in an iverson action. To end the action #3 Dwayne Wade gets two ball screens a slip screen from the shooting 4 man, and then a ball screen from #1 Chris Bosh. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA slight counter to the Heat's dribble handoff into iverson action as after the handoff the PG (#15 Chalmers or #30 Cole move down to the block to set a back screen for #1 Chris Bosh to post up. With #6 Lebron James playing the 4 and handling the ball the point continues up to ball screen for him. Another action to eliminate the high hedge. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe 1998 Chicago Bulls ran this Baseline Out of Bounds play, particularly in the 1998 Playoffs against the Charlotte Hornets. The design was to get Pippen the ball on the block with shooters in Jordan and Kerr around him in the Triangle. Pippen is the first screener, then gets a screen set for him by Rodman in a "screen the screener" action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA late game set ran by the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals to free up #34 Ray Allen. He gets a screen from the 4 man, and then runs off a flare from the 5 looking for his jumper. The Spurs took away the flare allowing the pass to go to #1 Chris Bosh. On his catch then #34 Ray Allen went back door for a lay-up. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's Entry is a Baseline Out of Bounds series of plays using 'Letter's' to not only communicate the play, but help with set up as well. Furthermore, we incorporate sign language here to disguise but to also teach our players a life long skill that is effective for play thieves who watch a lot of film. Plus, we have found it helps with our players focus in these situations believe or not so ENJOY. Frame 1 + 2 = " L " , Frame 3 + 4 = " O ", and Frame 5 + 6 = " I " I released a Stack series a few days ago... more BLOB's to come. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play out of a 1-4 High set is one of my favorite quick-hitting sets, particularly in the end of a game. It draws up a quick three-pointer for a stretch 4 and an opportunity for a slipped layup at the rim. It's simple enough to be run at a variety of levels, provided your team has a solid decision-maker and passer who can play the wing. See More
