Michigan beat #2 seeded Louisville, to advance to the Sweet 16 of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Coach Pitino said,You take away Michigan's right-hand, you have a very good chance of stopping them off the bounce.This was in reference to Louisville's struggles to keep Michigan from getting to their right hand. It is no coincidence that Michigan is able to accomplish this, despite their opponents knowing about this strength. The Wolverines do some things, which enable them to maximize their ability to get to their right hand. It is amazing to watch the 2017 NCAA Tournament and realize how important basic fundamentals are to the success of the teams. North Carolina ran this great ATO, which got their leading scorer a wide open look. Unfortunately, the pass was too low, and resulted in a lay-up for the other team. That does not diminish the quality of this set, which has a post up option, as well as a shot from a double stagger. North Carolina executed down the stretch, beating Arkansas, to advance to the Sweet 16. See More

This set is one of my favorites of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. There are numerous scoring opportunities, as it is a combination of multiple actions. Xavier ran this set in their Sweet 16 game, against Arizona. The set resulted in a wide open three point attempt. Kentucky ran this set in their Elite 8 match-up with North Carolina. The set is well designed, as it creates an advantage in the wing pick and roll. The 4 fills to the top, in the case that the opponent tries to ice or trap the ball screen. A quick pass to 4, allows for the lob to 5. If they do not do those things, then 2 should turn the corner, looking to make a play. See More

In a game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Cleveland Cavaliers ran this box set. It resulted in a layup for Kyrie Irving. It was one of the few things that went well for the Cavs on this night, as the Spurs cruised to an easy victory. This set allows Kyrie to get down hill, but what makes the set so effective is the positioning of the Cavs personnel. Don't be surprised to see this, in a key moment, in this year's NBA playoffs. The San Antonio Spurs beat the defending NBA Champion, Cleveland Cavaliers, by 29 points. There was a lot working. This set was my favorite, as it has multiple scoring options. The Spurs stack two players weakside, to make it look like Kawhi Leonard (3) will come off of a weakside down screen. Instead, he sets a baseline cross screen, in a great screen-the-screener action.
