Basketball Play - Sideline Break (Opponent FT Special)

Sideline Break (Opponent FT Special)

Matt Hackenberg 03/14/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a special set on an opponent free throw attempt. This is a full court, sideline fast break. The idea is to beat the defense down the court for a corner three-pointer or a post up. This concept is very effective, especially considering how simple it is. Basketball Play - Lanes Progression Drill

Lanes Progression Drill

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

In this drill we go through a progression to improve on-the-ball defense. This drill also helps develop ball handling skills for offensive players. If you are a full court man-to-man pressing team, this drill is perfect for you. It works in a progression to refine technique, and then puts those techniques to the test. Basketball Play - Transition Shooting Series

Transition Shooting Series

Zachary Weir 10/30/2018

Transition shooting series is a full court shooting drill. The drill works on rhythm full speed shooting in transition, passing in transition, and conditioning players to communicate in a chaotic transition situation. This is a great conditioner and competition drill as well, as players on the two sides compete against each other for a total amount of makes. Shoot, get your own rebound (before it bounces or only one bounce), make a good pass to next shooter sprint to opposite end. Passer must call next shooter's name, next shooter must call for ball when s/he wants the ball. Have players shoot on both sides of the floor and set a goal/pace for your team. See More

Basketball Play - Beating a Zone Press Using Side / Middle / Reverse

Beating a Zone Press Using Side / Middle / Reverse

Shannon Clancy 04/18/2018

Concept - Beating A Zone Press Using Side / Middle / Reverse There are many ways to break full court pressure - and they can change based on the type of pressure you're facing. Whatever you decide, remember these three words - side, middle, reverse. When playing tough full court zone pressure teams it can sometimes feel as if there's 12 defenders on the court - but of course there are only 5, and 2 of them are guarding one player. This leaves 3 players to guard your remaining 4, and at least one of them will likely start long, protecting the rim. Jr. Wizards Coaches Manual See More

Basketball Play - Villanova M-M Press Break

Villanova M-M Press Break

Kevin Bruinsma 05/02/2016

Villanova excelled all year long in special situations and this press breaker was no exception. A very simple action in design that could have been very easily stopped if the back screen was just switched. In terms of getting the ball in this play will almost always work against a M-M Full Court Defense, be clearing out the front court it’s easy to just enter the ball to the 2 guard. In this specific case Villanova hits the home run and gets an And 1, however all of the options were open. The 2 was open, 5 was open coming back to the ball and the 1 would have been open if he continued running forward after setting the screen. See More
