Basketball Play - Spurs Late Clock 3/4 Court

Spurs Late Clock 3/4 Court

Kevin Bruinsma 07/04/2013

Here is the set the San Antonio Spurs ran in Game 5 against the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. Having only 5 seconds to go 3/4 court on the sideline the Spurs went with a small line up. They put #9 Tony Parker at midcourt, and had #14 Gary Neal run off him first, and then #20 Manu Ginobili. With him setting two screens he was able to pop back to the ball and have a full court iso. Spurs Wing Read Option

Kevin Bruinsma 07/03/2013

A quick hitter the Spurs ran for #4 Danny Green in the NBA Finals he takes his man down in Early Offense and can cut back door if available. If not he runs off the screen from 5 looking for a quick 3. If he can't shoot it, 5 turns right back around and they have a pick and roll in the middle of the floor. 4 rolls up. See More

This play contains several scoring opportunities. From a double stack 3 and 2 cut opposite to get open for shots. On ball reversal to 4, 5 is isolated in the paint for high low pass. On ball reversal to 2, 3 slashes for the ball as 5 and 4 double screen for 1, freeing him at the top of the key. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - Blue

Blue

John Leonzo 06/26/2013

Here is another late shot clock play that was run in Calipari's first year at Kentucky. This set is a good one to run if you have a point guard that can create off the dribble and a post that can dominate inside. Very quick and easy action. See More

Here is a play that John Calipari ran in his first year at Kentucky. This was a great set for that team because of where it placed their extremely talented players. You had 5 (Cousins) in the post, 1 (John Wall) attacking off the ball screen, and 2 (Eric Bledsoe) coming off of the stagger. They would run this at the end of the shot clock to get a good look. Basketball Play - Off

Off

John Leonzo 06/24/2013

"Off" is another great set to run as a counter if your team has an offense that incorporates the Iverson cut. One of the strongest parts of this set the spacing and the opportunities that the offense has as a result. 5 ducking in hard in front of the rim is a great option and 2 has a lot of room to create coming off of the ball screen. This is a great way to get a good look while giving your players a good amount of freedom. See More

Basketball Play - Back Reverse

Back Reverse

John Leonzo 06/21/2013

Here is a set play that Bucknell ran in the NCAA tournament this year against Butler. This is a counter to a similar action that they ran earlier in the same game. In the previous play 2 would cut to the corner opposite the ball and 1 would hit 3 on the wing for an ISO. In this counter 2 stops his cut under the basket and pops to the top of the key for a catch and shoot opportunity. This is an effective set when coupled with the previously described play. This is a great misdirection quick hitter! See More

Basketball Play - Pacer Weave Duck In

Pacer Weave Duck In

Kevin Bruinsma 06/19/2013

The Pacers ran this set in a late clock situation right before the end of the First Half in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals vs the Miami Heat. #21 David West with a textbook example of ducking in, sealing a defender. This play didn't result in a basket as West missed an open lay-up. But the job he does of going along the baseline, then coming back towards the rim sealing they switching defender was tremendous.
