Basketball Play - Lob Sets - The Hill (SLOB)

Lob Sets - The Hill (SLOB)

Doug Brotherton 05/22/2017

"The Hill" is named after Greenhill School in Addison, Texas. At the 2017 TABC (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches) Clinic, there was a "Pass the Chalk" Event. This SLOB was drawn by Greenhill School boys varsity basketball coach, Joey Sims. I have added a double stagger to the end of the set, so that there is a secondary action, if the lob is not available. See More

Basketball Play - Cleveland Cavs - Pindown Double Iso

Cleveland Cavs - Pindown Double Iso

Matt Wheeler 05/08/2017

The Cleveland Cavaliers ran this play multiple times in the 4th quarter of game 4 against the Toronto Raptors to get Kyrie Irving (1) in isolation situations for him to create. The Cavs used this play to help break open the game and extend their lead from 2 to 8. After 1 gets the ball, 3, 2, and 4 are spread around the 3 point line to give 1 space to operate. 5 is on the weakside block ready for an offensive rebound or a finish if his defender helps. Basketball Play - Cleveland Cavs - Pindown Horns Spread

Cleveland Cavs - Pindown Horns Spread

Matt Wheeler 05/08/2017

The Cleveland Cavs ran this inverted variation of the Horns set early in game 4 against the Toronto Raptors. Normally in a Horns set 5 & 4 set the ball screen up top with 2 & 3 in the corners. In this lineup the Cavs have 4 shooters spaced around LeBron James (3) so it was easy for the guards and posts to switch roles and still keep everyone spaced on the perimeter. 5 & 4 set pindown screens for 1 & 2 then cut to the corners. 3 turns the corner on the ball screen to look for a shot or any of his teammates spaced around the 3 point line. Basketball Play - Elbow Bang

Elbow Bang

Doug Brotherton 04/24/2017

When building your playbook for next season, we want to give you some things to consider. For example, do your sets have anything that make them easy to scout? Do they all start from different formations? Is it difficult to flow from the base offense, into the sets? Do they all use the same action? Do the sets lack versatility? These are all challenges, which coaches must consider, and do not realize until they face the best teams on their schedule. The "Elbow Series" below is an example of some sets that check all of the necessary boxes, which make them a solid addition to your playbook. Read More: http://bit.ly/2pbH6L1 See More
