Favorite Send to FastDrawThe San Antonio Spurs ran this sideline out-of-bounds play during Game 6 of the 2014 Western Conference Finals vs the OKC Thunder. Ginobili (1) did a tremendous job selling his cut off 2 (creating small separation) before sprinting off the screen from Duncan (5) for the catch & shoot 3-poiner. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Oklahoma State Cowboys were one of the most talked about Division I teams at the beginning of the season for their strong start. Near the end of the season, they were once again talked about, for all the wrong reasons. Despite these setbacks, the Cowboys had one of the most talked about players in the game this season Marcus Smart and extremely athletic guard Markel Brown. This Transition Set runs right into a simple Diamond play and with the utilization of screens & player movement, the Cowboys finally get the ball into the hands of their prolific scorer Smart who sets up Murphy at the end of the play. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Iowa State Cyclones were one of the most exciting offensive teams to watch at times this season with a multi dimensional offensive attack. Here is a "quick hit" Lob play run for their talented athletic PG DeAndre Kane Perfect timing of the cut by Hogue eliminates the weak side help as Ejim steps up to set a back screen on x1 as Kane heads to the ring for the lob pass from Niang See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFred Hoiberg's name has come up in several off-season NBA Coaching openings, showing the amount of respect he has at the highest levels. Hoiberg's experience in the NBA shows in the way Iowa State executes and runs their offensive sets. Everything is predicated on good spacing & player movement. Hoiberg gives his players the ability to create 1 v 1 situations and use their skills to breakdown the defense which in turn creates opportunities for everyone else on kick-out passes. This very easy to run Diamond play can be run for any one of your players to create an isolation situation. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMotion Hold is a great play to run in a late game situation in which you are holding for a last shot or waiting for the defensive to commit a foul. This play incorporates multiple screening options to get either wing open. In most cases you want to keep the ball in your guard(s) hands for better ball-handling and free throw shooting. However, if you get into an urgent situation your bigs are allowed to flash as a release if needed. Favorite Send to FastDrawFollowing drill was a part of a skill packet we mailed out to coaches when I was at the University of Florida. Yesterday I posted phase 1 of the build up with the 2-on-1. A 2nd defender is added whose main job is to spring back down the floor and get back into the play. Start with the same set-up as you did in the 2-on-1 drill, but place the 2nd defender under the rim. The 2nd defender’s goal is to get to the inside track of the player opposite of the ball. Just like in the 2-on-1 drill, the offensive players are trying to attack the rim to score, remaining 2-3 feet outside of the lane. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFollowing drill was a part of a skill packet we mailed out to coaches when I was at the University of Florida. Two offensive players start 2-3 feet outside of the lane along the baseline. Start the defensive player at the free-throw line. Drill starts with a coach holding a ball around the free-throw line area, and passing it to one of the offensive players. Once the ball is passed, the defensive player should immediately turn and sprint to half-court and get down in a defensive stance with active hands. The offensive players should remain 2-3 feet outside of the lane as they attack the other end. They should not be too wide, so the defense can recover, and not be too close, so the defense is able to cover both players. The offensive player with the ball should not pass the ball until the defense totally commits to him (bounce pass for lay-up). If the defense does not commit, shoot a lay-up. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Spurs ran this DHO action early and often in Game 4 of the 2014 Western Conference Finals vs. Oklahoma City (5-27-14). This particular set was ran at the 11:15 mark of the 1st quarter. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a different take on the ball screen. In this set the PG is the one setting the screen. Most of us practice with the PG getting screened for, thus the PG defender getting screened. Here the defender will likely hedge late, if at all, allowing 4 to turn the corner for a 2-1 situation at the rim. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWisconsin ran this quick hitter during the 2014 NCAA Tournament. It is a simple, yet effective way to get a quick bucket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis zone offense works against a 2-3 zone and creates a quick open look from the 3 point line. Your best shooter has to play the 2 position. Almost at the same time, the big man (4) and the guard (3) have to start. A strong drive by the point guard (1) is necessary to draw the help. A perfect timing is crucial for the outcome of this play. See More
