Basketball Play - "Double Fist"

"Double Fist"

Kyle Gilreath 08/16/2013

This is a play that Jim Boeheim frequented during the 2013 Final Four. I love this set because of the continuous screening actions after the initial stagger pick & roll. The first two options of the play are for 1 to come off and attack the rim and if he can't throwback to 4 for a catch & shoot. If neither of those options are open 2 comes off the second set of staggers for a multiple of options. Basketball Play - Cutters

Cutters

Kyle Gilreath 08/16/2013

Michigan's John Beilein ran this play versus Syracuse in the 2013 Final Four in Atlanta. This action consists of tons of movement forcing the defense to communicate and scramble around. As the defense scrambles to match-up to cutters, it is a great opportunity to set a pick & roll on the zone. Basketball Play - Position Defense Drill (part 1)

Position Defense Drill (part 1)

Tom Kelsey 08/16/2013

Good drill to get your players into a defensive stance and in a proper position from different spots on the floor. Can use in individual workouts, pre-practice and pre-game warmups. Can make the drill competitive by using players in the position of the coach. Also, have teams compete against each other while still working on the fundamentals. See More

Basketball Play - 1 Thru

1 Thru

Kyle Gilreath 08/15/2013

This double stagger into a triple stagger from Florida State's Leonard Hamilton is a great action to get your guards coming off multiple screens. This play also creates a great situation to get 1 into a pick & roll action below the free-throw line. After 1 receives the ball, if they don't have any scoring options spread the floor and have 5 set a quick pick on the ball. See More

Basketball Play - 1 Baseline

1 Baseline

Kyle Gilreath 08/15/2013

The Louisville Cardinals ran this play in the 2nd half of the 2013 National Championship game versus Michigan. If you watch Rick Pitino and Billy Donovan enough you know they love to run baseline staggers. This is a great quick hitter that got point guard Peyton Siva some easy looks from mid-range. Basketball Play - "ELEVATOR"

"ELEVATOR"

Stephen Gentry 08/13/2013

2 takes it out with a box set. It is vital that 3 can get open without a screen or switch him and 5 to set up a screen. Once 2 inbounds to 3, 4 sets a screen for PG to get open on the ball side wing. 2 then sets up in the lane to get ready for screening action. PG dribbles toward the top of the key as 4 and 5 elevator door screen for 2 (decoy). 4 then slips to the nail for a catch and makes a read/decision. 5 drops to the lane as well. 4 can shoot it, pass to 5 on a high-low or hit 3 in the opposite corner if his man over helps. Basketball Play - Double Swing

Double Swing

Randy Brown 08/12/2013

Double swing uses the same action twice in the same set play. After ball is entered to 3, 1 cuts to block and uses 4's down screen to return to original spot. 2 and 3 again swing the wings, with 2 receiving three staggered screens to get open on the right side. After screening for 2, 3 empties out on the left wing. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - Elbow Punch

Elbow Punch

Kyle Gilreath 08/12/2013

During Game 4 of the 2008 NBA Finals between the Lakers and Celtics, Doc Rivers ran this quick post-up action out of an elbow set. The key to this is having 3 push their defender over top or at least get them between themself and the rim in order to button hook into a post and seal. See More
