Favorite Send to FastDraw1 cuts from right corner to get pass on left wing. 2 down screens for 3, freeing him to the top. Ball is reversed from 1-3-2. Play ends up with 2 man on ball screen and roll situation with 5 flashing high. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAlvin Gentry and the Phoenix Suns used this play when they needed a three pointer with about three seconds left in the game. It's designed for Channing Frye, a stretch forward, to come off a flare screen for a catch and shoot attempt. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a drill that I love to run throughout the season to help enforce my defensive philosophy when it comes to helping on baseline penetration. My defensive philosophy is to keep the ball out of the middle of the floor. WIth that said, when the ball is in the corner I teach my players to direct the ball handler to the baseline halfway in between the 3-point line and lane line. Furthermore, the help needs to come early enough outside the lane and cut off the basket and the baseline. This is a 5 out drill because that is the style of offense we currently run. If you are guarding a team in the post, I NEVER help off the post because it opens up easy lay-ups. That is why is it vital for your help defenders to be aware and in the correct positions early. This is also a great drill that teaches your players how to scramble in defensive situations after cutting off the baseline. Make sure the coach passes to different players througout the drill to enforce the level of urgency and communication in such scrambles. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawChris Mooney and his Richmond Spiders have been very successful on their inbounds plays this year. They beat #22 VCU Rams last wednesday. They used this inbounds play to force a second overtime. Coach Mooney thought that it was important for his inbounds an waited a split second for T.J. (receiver) to get free on the other side of the basket and didn't throw it to him as soon as he slipped free. Coach Shaka Smart remarked that he would love to have that play back again. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play is a basline inbounds play (BLOB) that is a 1-4 high variation of "Twist" that I posted some time ago. This play can be run well against a man-to-man inbounds defense as opposed to the 1-4 low formation the play usually uses. Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's Play of the Day is a transition option from Fred Hoiberg and the Iowa State Cyclones for a stretch shooting big man. Hoiberg ran this set coming out of transition for his forward Georges Niang, particularly against Kansas and Jef Withey, who was exceptionally poor at defending on the perimeter. This action fits well into Hoiberg's overall motion offense, which is strongly perimeter-based. His general pattern of offense has been dubbed basketball's version of the "Spread Offense". See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a 1-4 Low set from the NHSBCA Playbook that forces the defense to handle multiple screen types and isolates your center in the paint. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawGolden State Warriors run alot of their sets in the flow of their offense based on reads. They run double stagger, one down and flex actions out of their base offense that end up in Horns. This set is a wrinkle out of the base motion that is designed to get Draymond Green cutting to the rim for a layup. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawMichigan State often attacks the zone with high ball screens... The screener short rolls, if the roller does not get the ball early-he must seal the high post area. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIf the ball reversal is denied to 2, 4 passes ball back to 1, 3 still sets the backscreen, but instead of screen taking place on the weakside of the floor, 4 cuts on the strong side of the floor. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's FastDraw Play of the Day is a half-court set run by the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2012 NCAA Men's Tournament. The Badgers used this set to look for a post touch, then clear out the baseline for a skip or back door cut. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawArizona runs this half court zone play with just under 12 minutes left in the second half against Xavier. Key detail: 4 must seal X5 at the elbow to create passing lane for 1. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawComing out of halftime to start the 2nd half, the Albany Great Danes were down 9 to the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. Coach Will Brown called a Horns Backdoor set to start the half that would give one of their top scorers, Peter Hooley (#12) an easy scoring opportunity. Earlier in the 1st half, Albany ran numerous plays from the horns set, which you can tell by how the defender was expecting Hooley to come off the dribble handoff. Making a quick in game adjustment, Hooley sets the defender up for a backdoor and finishes the play. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play uses a 4-5 stack to create action for 3 cutting to right corner. On 2-3 pass, 2 uses stack to empty to weak side. On ball reversal to 1, 4 curls over top of 5 to catch and score in lane. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawPG comes off 4. 4 twists and rescreens for PG and then quickly rolls almost leaving before the screen is set. 5 cleans it up to set a double ballscreen. PG attacks the ballscreen. After setting the 2nd ballscreen 5 rolls hard down the middle of the lane. 4 fills behind looking for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a set play that can be run for continuity with a stagger screen going on each time it is run. This is a great play to get a 3 point play for your 3 man, but it can be an even more effective ISO for 2 if the ball is thrown to him as he pulls across the lane. Because of the stagger going on the opposite side of the floor, the help side should be occupied and 2 can have a good chance to attack and create. Another option that could be open is 4 slipping to the basket after setting his top part of the stagger screen. If his man hedges hard to help on 3 popping to the wing, you could have a good look at 4 slipping to the basket. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawSet from Donnie Tyndall that he ran at the end of the 1st half vs. Vanderbilt on 2/26/15. Multiple actions that turn into an isolation set or a two man game. Great way to get the ball to your best player in space if he/she is not your point guard. See More
