Basketball Play - D2 Elevator

D2 Elevator

Timothy Hipps 03/02/2015

This is a play I saw in a NCAA Division II game in January. The game was Mt. Olive and King (Tennessee). My apologies as a I don't remember which team ran the play, but it's great that you can find good, innovative offense everywhere. See More

Basketball Play - Post Pop

Post Pop

Dana Beszczynski 09/02/2013

Louisville Cardinals post pop action off transition. The Cardinals ran this set in the opening minutes of their NCAA Championship game against Michigan. 1 sets a good screen in the lane pinning x5 allowing 5 to pop completely free to the FT line area for an open 15' shot. See More

Basketball Play - Duke Zone Hi/Lo Runner

Duke Zone Hi/Lo Runner

Wes Kosel 04/02/2015

Coach K called this play in the second half of the game against Robert Morris. The play sends the point guard running across the baseline to the opposite corner against the zone. Both post players inside look for opportunities to seal their defenders. Once the ball gets inside to 4, he looks to shoot, pass out for a 3-point shot, or pass down to 5 cutting to the basket. Basketball Play - Carolina

Carolina

Rich Czeslawski 06/26/2012

On our "Carolina" secondary break, we want to reverse the ball from 1 to 4 to 3 as quickly as possible, just as we have done in our "Regular" break. 3 still looks to feed the post - 5. However, instead of the 2 coming off the staggered double screen as he does on our "Regular" break, he will come up and set a backpick on 4's man. 5 must post up hard, wanting the ball. 1 must cut up high to the ball side to pull his defender away from help. If 4 is not open for the backpick lob, 3 should look immediately to 2 at the elbow. As 2 catches at the elbow, 4 should screen across the lane for 5, who MUST come underneath 4's screen. 2 looks to 5 on the weak block or back to the screener - 4, who screens and steps to the ball. If 2 is unable to pass the ball to 5 or 4, he can simply pass the ball to 1 and move to the right wing to create floor balance and we can begin our offensive possession from there. See More

Basketball Play - 1 Reverse (4)

1 Reverse (4)

Kyle Brown 10/01/2012

This set is great action for your 4 man if he can hit the pick & pop jumper. This also allows your PG to come off of 2 ball screens and create. Depending on the type of players you have, you could switch the 4 & the 5. Doing this would allow for a roll & replace action off the 2nd ballscreen. See More

Basketball Play - Big X

Big X

Randy Brown 01/06/2014

Wing dribble out sets up ball reversal from 1-2. 3 cuts on baseline using 4 and 5's screes to free him. On 3's catch 4 quickly cross screens for 5. 4 screens and cuts to elbow in case of switch on cross screen. See More

Basketball Play - Pacer Iverson Empty Side Ball Screen

Pacer Iverson Empty Side Ball Screen

Kevin Bruinsma 06/17/2013

The Indiana Pacers loved to run #24 Paul George off the Iverson Action or Zipper screens to get him open. Here after running off #21 David West's Iverson screen, he gets a ball screen from him. The key to this action is everyone clearing out on the ball screen as the 5 ducks in to the middle of the paint. With #21 West's shooting ability and #24 George's ability to create, score, and make plays more often then not the opponents in this case the Miami Heat will switch the bigs sending the 5 man's defender out to defend the popping 4 man. This leaves the 5 man with a guard dropping down on him. #55 Roy Hibbert did an unbelievable job of getting to the lane and sealing a smaller 2 man here. See More

Basketball Play - Duke Okafor ISO (Thumbs Down)

Duke Okafor ISO (Thumbs Down)

Wes Kosel 04/03/2015

Duke used this play against Gonzaga to open the game and get the ball inside to Okafor. Once Okafor got the ball, two Zags double-teamed leaving Winslow wide open on the wing for a 3-point shot. The play starts with Tyus Jones giving a "thumbs down" signal and a down-screen set for 4 in the corner. 4 curls the screen and sets a cross-screen for Okafor. On the screen, Okafor is open on the block for a pass inside. See More

Basketball Play - DOUBLE BACK SCREEN LOB

DOUBLE BACK SCREEN LOB

Jens Hakanowitz 02/17/2015

If you are looking for an alley-oop dunk, this play might work perfectly for you. Requirements to be met are an athletic player running the 3 and 4. The first back screen functions as a decoy so that the defender of 2 overhelps early and isn't able to help on the second back screen. See More

Basketball Play - Flip Flop

Flip Flop

Randy Brown 05/08/2014

Penetration and ball reversal make this a good scoring play. 5 pops to catch to start the action and reverses to 3. 5 follows with on ball screen and roll. On weak side, 4 and 1 exchange. On 4's catch, 1 screens across for 5 for quick catch and score. See More

Basketball Play - David Blatt Horns 1 Set Play

David Blatt Horns 1 Set Play

Scott Peterman 02/18/2015

David Blatt been around the Israeli and Euroleague basketball circuit. Including coaching for Maccabi Tel Aviv (they de bezt, alweyz de bezt) and the Russian National Team (Kirilenko, Mozgov, Shved). He coached Anthony Parker back into the NBA. Names don't exactly get the point across, but let it be known, that he has coached winning teams, almost exclusively. And thats the point of the game. From what I can gather Blatt's teams run a lot through a horns offense. Which, if you don't know, puts two guys- one on either- high post (witch's nipple), two guys in opposite corner/wings and starts with the ball handler at the top of the key. It is not a triangle offense, but it does revolve around cerebral players creating space with passing, smart cutting and good footwork. Certainly a proprietor of the Triangle has respect for this, a verySpurs-y set of offensive goals. Everybody needs touches to make this kitten purr. Everyone needs to fill the open spaces that relate to their skill set, and everyone must become a threat when they have the ball. Basketball Play - Syracuse Low Stack

Syracuse Low Stack

Dana Beszczynski 02/17/2014

Syracuse currenty sits atop the AP & Coaches Poll as the #1 team in the nation. Their record is 23-0 and in the last weeks, the Orange have kept their undefeated record intact by defeating the likes of Pittsburg (2x's), Duke, & this weekend N.C. State. Jim Boeheim has been a sideline fixture with the Orange for the last 37 years, guiding the Orange to 30 NCAA Tournaments, 4 NCAA Finals Fours, and 1 NCAA Championship. This Low Stack Action has a lot of movement, gives the shooters a chance to use the rub screen for a possible wing jumper or gives the post a chance to get a touch inside. See More
