Basketball Play - Michigan Swing Cut

Michigan Swing Cut

Kevin Bruinsma 01/25/2015

While going thru the game I was really impressed by Michigan’s first offensive play call out of half time, it involved great spacing, driving lanes, and the ball switching sides of the floor. The action forced Detroit to put multiple guys in rotations to protect the rim, guard a handoff, defend the drive, and recover to shooters. See More

Basketball Play - Miami BLOB Step Back

Miami BLOB Step Back

Kevin Bruinsma 07/11/2013

The Miami Heat realized the San Antonio Spurs were sitting on certain baseline out of bounds plays after playing them 7 straight times and decided to throw a different wrinkle at them. Instead of the 4 & 5 setting a double screen for 1 or 3, #1 Chris Bosh set a back screen for the 4 man who dove right to the rim. #1 Bosh's man protects against the cut allowing #1 Bosh to pop for a wide open jumper. Syracuse than this pock & roll pin-down action in the 2013 Men's Final Four. If 4 isn't able to catch & shoot or create on the dribble, the play will continue as 3 uses the screen from 5. 4 has the option to hit 3 coming off the screen or look to feed 5 sealing in the post. Basketball Play - Ohio State's 4 man STS

Ohio State's 4 man STS

Kyle Brown 01/15/2013

Another really good set from Ohio State's game vs Michigan. The key to this play is the 4 man tight curling the flare and immediately going into the cross screen with 5. That way he can create seperation for himself when 1 downscreens for him. Although they finished the play with 1 coming out on the baseline side, this play could also easily finish in another Cross Screen for the 5 See More

This set was run by the Chicago Bulls in the 2006-2007 season. This set is designed to get a lay up for your post player or a three point shot for your point guard. In this screen the screener action, your point guard will have to head hunt and set a good screen on 4's man, in order to get a wide open shot. See More

In this play, Grayson Allen runs the baseline as Plumlee sets a ball-screen for Tyus Jones. Jones takes the ball-screen into the middle of the floor as Plumlee rolls to the basket. In the game, Jones hit Plumlee on the roll and all 5 Wisconsin Badgers collapsed into the post. Allen cut up from the corner and was sitting wide open for a 3-point shot. See More

2010 Suns Rub Fence

Adam Spinella 08/08/2013

Suns Coach Alvin Gentry ran this as a catch and shoot set against the New Jersey Nets in an end game situation. With only 2 seconds remaining on the clock, Channing Frye, a stretch-4, used a well-set double screen, or fence, from Gortat and Nash to knock down the catch and shoot three. See More

Basketball Play - Horns Pop

Horns Pop

Kyle Gilreath 07/12/2013

On the last day of the Orlando NBA Summer League, the Detroit Pistons ran this simple continuity horns action for multiple pick & rolls. Popping your bigs and having them pass and sprint into continuous pick & rolls is not only hard to guard, but will help them if they play at the next level. See More

Play of the Day 01-14-2012: 1-4 Low Shooter

FastModel Sports 01/14/2012

3 comes off of a double screen on the backside as a decoy. 1 dribble penetrates trying to get to rim. If defense leaves the shooter 1 kicks for a 3. If defender stays home on shooter and 1 can't get to rim, 1 looks for 5 on the opposite block or 4 in the high post. 4 can hit 5 on the high-low. If none of these options are open, 4 and 5 pin in 3's defender for a skip pass. See More

Basketball Play - Miami DH Pin Down Reverse

Miami DH Pin Down Reverse

Kevin Bruinsma 07/13/2013

Miami entered a lot of their offense with a dribble handoff. Here after the DH #34 Ray Allen sets up his man and runs off a screen looking for his shot. If the shot isnt there he hands right back to 2 or in this case #3 Dwayne Wade. On the handoff #3 Dwayne Wade gets a ball screen from #1 Chris Bosh with the entire side of the floor open. See More

Basketball Play - Pacer Iverson Curl

Pacer Iverson Curl

Kevin Bruinsma 06/16/2013

With so much attention being placed on #24 Paul George the Indiana Pacers used him in every set they ran as either the main option or a decoy. Here he starts by running an iverson action across the floor to get the defense focused on him. #21 David West flashes up to the elbow for his catch. On his catch #24 George runs right around him to the basket. West has a simple read throw it to George or if his man backs off to protect the pass, shoot the ball. See More

Basketball Play - Side Ball Screen Vs. 2-3

Side Ball Screen Vs. 2-3

Kevin Bruinsma 01/21/2015

Tied 63-63 against UMKC we turned to the side ball screen action against their match-up 2-3 zone they played for nearly 40 minutes. The key was a great screen by #4 Amiker, which eliminated the ball defender. The weakside guard of their zone had to stop our ball handler, #11 Cole in a tie game, who then kicked it to our shooter, #10 Keene on the left wing. The bottom man of the zone didn't want to leave another shooter, #1 Plummer in the corner of the floor so the top defender tried to stop ball and then recover to contest the shot. See More

Basketball Play - Rhody Back

Rhody Back

Kyle Gilreath 01/07/2014

Rhody back is another simple yet very effective screen the screener post-up play to run after using a rhody cut. In the play below, have 1 delay his dribble to the wing until 2 almost reaches the point of the screen from 4. This will occupy X4 for a second before being hit with the backscreen. If X3 and X4 do a poor job communicating on the backscreen and overload to the post, 3 will be open after the pin down from 5. See More
