Basketball Play - 22

22

John Leonzo 05/22/2013

Here is play that I saw Saint Louis run and I adapted it to work out of a box set. The few times that I saw SLU run this they always hit the first screener that slipped his screen. SLU ran this out of a 1-4 high formation and it can be adapted to work in that way as well. See More

Basketball Play - Hit the post and move

Hit the post and move

Tom Kelsey 10/01/2012

This is a great base series to work on feeding the post. Use this drill during your ballhandling session in practice. Add in a blocking dummy or coach to make post player work on going against defense. Make post player work with a V-Cut or spin move to get open on the block. Even without defense, it is a drill to work on game speed. Emphasize: 1. Post player come across the lane game speed. 2. Perimeter works on coming down the operational area and making a jump stop before making post pass. 3. Perimeter must work on being effective with passes and hit post player in a position to score. Cleveland

Tom Kelsey 08/19/2013

1 looks to go left on the dribble. 4 comes up to set the ball screen but back cuts to the rim. 5 circles up and sets the ball screen. 1 immediately turns back to the right and uses 5 for the ball screen. Quick lob for 4 at the rim. If not there, swing to 5 and look to go hi-low. See More

Play of the Day 01-19-2012: Double High

FastModel Sports 01/19/2012

2 gets screen from 4 to inbound. 3 squeezes through pinch screen from 4 and 5 and ball is swung to top. 1 comes inbounds to the opposite wing for reversal pass. if 1 doesn't have a shot, set up the High-Low with 5 diving to low block and 4 shaping up to the top of the key. If defense plays behind 5, 1 feeds the post directly. If defense fronts 5, look to seal for the high-low. See More

Basketball Play - Regular Low (on make)

Regular Low (on make)

Sebastian Wild 07/13/2014

This "Regular Low" Action is our way of flowing from our sideline-break into our half court offense after conceding a score. It's a great way to change sides of the floor early in the possession and establish a game in the paint, as we are looking inside after a lob action for our trailer or create a deep post up position for our big after a cross screen off of movement. If run with pace and crisp screening, this is a very difficult action to defend. See More

Basketball Play - Elbow Quick

Elbow Quick

Kyle Gilreath 09/18/2013

During the 2009 NBA Finals, the LA Lakers run this quick elbow action versus the Orlando Magic for a quick score from Kobe Bryant. If the defense looks to over help on this action look to throwback to 5 (Gasol) rolling or throwback to 1 (Fisher) at the top of the key. See More

Basketball Play - Motion Offense Breakdowns - 2/1 Downscreen

Motion Offense Breakdowns - 2/1 Downscreen

Randy Sherman 02/19/2015

This drill begins teaching cutters the reads needed to execute the four cuts of motion offense. Screener (1) begins with ball and passes to coach. Begin to add defense as a progression in motion offense breakdowns: Use a coach as a passer Only defend the wing (cutter) At first, tell defender how you want them to defend the downscreen. They can lock and trail, overplay high, go under (ballside) or get taken out by screen. Cutter gets the shot. Emphasize second cutting action by the screener in accordance with inside-outside principles. For the next progression, the drill should be run "live." Same drill except the defender can play the screen however. See More

Basketball Play - Stack Double

Stack Double

Kyle Gilreath 09/13/2013

Watching Game 6 of the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals between the Orlando Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Magic ran this set to get Rashard Lewis an isolation to score. Stan Van Gundy did a great job getting Lewis isolated on the wing with this action because on the drive if any help rotated he had Turkoglu, Lee, and Austin to kick out to for a shot. See More
