About This Play/Drill

Head Coach John Calipari ran a lot more set plays this season with his young group of Wildcats.

Here is an Early Offense play looking to either get off a lob pass to your 4 man or use the DHO to get a shot off with the hand-off man acting a screener for the guard coming off the backscreen.

  • Basketball Play - University of Kentucky
  • Basketball Play - University of Kentucky
  • Basketball Play - University of Kentucky

  • 1 (Harrow - 12) dribbles down the wing and forces the 3 (Goodwin) to the corner

     

    1 (Harrow - 12) reverses the ball to the trailing post 4 (Poythress - 22) and fills the empty wing

     

    5 (Cauley-Stein - 15) flashes to the lane line extended

     

    2 (Mays - 34) moves to the block setting up the next sequence in this play

  • 4 (Poythress - 22) passes to 5 (Cauley-Stein - 15) and receives the backscreen from 2 (Mays - 34) for the lob pass to the empty side

     

  • OPTION

     

    If the lob pass is not available:

     

    5 (Cauley-Stein - 15) executes a DHO with 2 (Mays - 34) who stops and shoots behind the hand-off with 5 (Cauley-Stein - 15) turning his body into x2
