Basketball Play - 21 Series Transition Offense

21 Series Transition Offense

Matt Hackenberg 12/15/2021

The 21 series is usually a 3-player action that happens right out of transition. The bunch action makes the options easy to disguise, almost like play action fakes in football. There are a variety of actions that can come from this series, and they all develop quickly, making them ideal for teams that want to play with a fast tempo. Not all the diagrams are represented with clips in the video below, but this was all I could dig up on film. Basketball Play - 4 Out, 1 In Circle Motion

4 Out, 1 In Circle Motion

Matt Hackenberg 12/14/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look closely at a variation of the 5 Out Circle Motion. This variation has a 4 Out, 1 In alignment. I've never actually used the 4 Out version, but I thought it was interesting seeing it on film. I've used the 5-Out version for a number of years, and it's been one of the more fun offenses to develop. Video clip below. Basketball Play - Princeton Offense - Multi-Option Set: "Hawk"

Princeton Offense - Multi-Option Set: "Hawk"

Matt Hackenberg 12/12/2021

This is a long form play with multiple options from a Princeton alignment and a floppy action to feature a dynamic player. If the player can drive, shoot, post up, finish off the cuts or use a ball screen there are options to do so. We used the play to feature a shooter, but a post up player or a driver could also be used, just different options would need to be emphasized. Basketball Play - 5 Out Screen Away Motion Offense

5 Out Screen Away Motion Offense

Matt Hackenberg 12/11/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look at an empty post 5 Out Motion Offense. The concept is simple - pass and screen away. We look at the options that evolve from reading the defense and making complimentary cuts to attack the defense. The diagram desriptions and video show you everything you need to know. Basketball Play - Euro Ball Screen (2-3 Zone Quick Hitter)

Euro Ball Screen (2-3 Zone Quick Hitter)

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

Skip to 6:30 mark of the embedded video below. The diagrams and video show how using the Euro Ball Screen Offense against 1-3 zone functions. We ran this as a set every year we had the Euro Ball Screen Offense installed and it worked very well 2-3 times per game against zone. After that, the defense tended to figure it out. Basketball Play - Euro Ball Screen Offense ("Wave")

Euro Ball Screen Offense ("Wave")

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

In 2014, the team I was coaching lost in the Ohio High School State Finals to a GREAT defensive team. We ran our entire offensive package (dribble drive, sets, high ball screens, etc.) at them and could not get any good looks. The feeling from that game led me on a search to find a great continuity offense that included screening, ball reversals and the option to use it for interior shots or perimeter shots. The search culminated in finding the 5-Out Euro Ball Screen Offense from watching the Olympics. We took the basics of the offense, added some bells and whistles, and made it something that could accomplish all we were looking for in an offense. We incorporated sets out of the flow of the offense, motion numbered cutting principles and various entries to spice things up. We put all that information into 45 extremely detailed pages of a PDF file on this offense and all the teaching points involved in making it your offense. To purchase the PDF, click here: https://sellfy.com/p/8JOh/ Aquinas' main man-to-man offense from the 2014-15 season was continuity ball screen attack we called "Wave." It was our first year running it as our main offense but used it as a set play the previous season. We were able to use a lot of different features within the offense to attack our opponents and many of those features are outlined in this video. Depending on the strengths of the players, the offense can be more tailored for the perimeter or the interior. We used multiple entries including several not shown on the video and numbered cut system so the players could communicate which screens and cuts they were about to make. Basketball Play - 5 Out Circle Motion ("Tennessee")

5 Out Circle Motion ("Tennessee")

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

The Circle Motion is an easy offense to implement and provides opportunities to score from screening and cutting. The simplicity is what I like about the offense the most. The diagrams break down a lot of the details of how to execute the offense, and the embedded video shows what the options look like at game speed. I wrote a 30 page detailed breakdown of this offense and it is available for purchase on my sellfy: https://sellfy.com/coachhack.go/p/ten... Basketball Play - Circle Motion Set (Curl-Curl-Pop)

Circle Motion Set (Curl-Curl-Pop)

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

#CircleMotionTips is a series of videos on YouTube to look at some of the details of the Circle Motion Offense. To understand the offense on a basic level, refer to this link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5-V_...). In this video we look closely at a set play or alternate cutting series in the Circle Motion. This action involves two cutters going to rim, and one popping back to the perimeter. I wrote an in-depth, 30 page document outlining everything to do with the offense, mostly to help me understand the offense with more clarity. It is available on Sellfy here: https://sellfy.com/coachhack.go/p/ten... and check out my other content in the store! Basketball Play - Euro Ball Screen into Floppy (Set Play)

Euro Ball Screen into Floppy (Set Play)

Matt Hackenberg 12/09/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play that evolves directly from the Euro Ball Screen Offense, designed to get a shooter a look coming off screening action. I love masking actions out of your base man offense. It really throws defenses off the scent of the action, and makes it harder for opponents to gain an advantage through scouting. Basketball Play - EOQ: Elbow Pin

EOQ: Elbow Pin

Matt Hackenberg 12/08/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look at an end of quarter set play to get a three-point shot for a shooter. Consider this play to end periods taking the final shot, while getting the shot you want for your team. It works consistently, and manages ghe end of quarter situations so they don't end up hurting your team. Basketball Play - Horns Ball Screen Pin Down

Horns Ball Screen Pin Down

Matt Hackenberg 12/08/2021

In this video we look at using a horns alignment to execute a play with multiple options to create a shot. Players can use the ball screen to score, hit a shooter coming off a pin down on the back side, or hit the roll man, although that didn’t happen in this film. With a good decision making lead guard, I think this action is a winner. Basketball Play - 1-2-2 Flex Offense Entry

1-2-2 Flex Offense Entry

Matt Hackenberg 12/07/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we are looking at an entry into the flex offense. This is a methodical continuity set, aimed at getting the defense to slip up on defending screens off the ball. I like all the cutting, screening and movement. I think it limits penetration opportunities to a certain extent, and makes your players a bit robotic running the pattern. But time has proven, the flex offense can be very effective, especially at the high school level. We pin down screen into a DHO to create the gap, and space a shooter in the corner to keep the defense honest. Basketball Play - Florida Gators | Five-Out Offense - Reverse Option

Florida Gators | Five-Out Offense - Reverse Option

Randy Sherman 12/07/2021

Here are some basic options used by the Florida Gators in their Five-Out Offense. First the REVERSE option where the Gators pass side-top-side then screen away. This unlocks curls, rejects and pop backs and links to some Princeton Offense concepts. A few years ago, I diagrammed this idea of taking some Motion Strong concepts and linking them with Point Series from the Princeton Offense. You can check out that playbook here. See More
