Basketball Play - Post Split Shooting

Post Split Shooting

Zachary Weir 07/03/2018

We use this shooting drill to work on our split cut actions when there is a post feed. We use coaches as extra passers in order to get more reps. We also always have a defender on the post player and will also progress to having the drill be 3v3. The defender will be instructed by a coach on how to guard the post. As the season progresses, we will let the defender choose and the offensive player will read the defense. Click here for more #PlayerDevelopmentWeek content! See More

Basketball Play - Circle Shooting Jumpstops

Circle Shooting Jumpstops

Joel Hueser 07/02/2018

Circle Shooting Jumpstops is the perfect drill to teach and emphasize the two-foot jumpstop and finishing strong in the paint. We like to piggy-back this drill with Circle Shooting. It is slightly more advanced, but very complimentary in building great footwork. Blog Post: Scoring Made Simple - 3 Easy and Effective Shots to Practice See More

Basketball Play - 11 Man Fast Break Drill

11 Man Fast Break Drill

Michael Lynch 06/24/2018

The 11 Man Fastbreak is one of our players' favorite drills. It is essentially a continous 3 on 2 transition drill that we use to emphasize pitch aheads and "Finding Advantages." This is generally a drill where I try not to blow the whistle much, but I will blow the whistle if we are straying from our transtion principles. I generally choose to emphasize 1) Running the Sideline Hard, 2) Hunting Pitch Ahead Passes, 3) Keeping Advantages Alive, and 4) Attacking the Rim. Basketball Play - Jerry Sloan Utah Series

Jerry Sloan Utah Series

Timothy Hipps 11/06/2017

"Utah" is a package of four plays based on the 1-4 High Offense utilized by Jerry Sloan during the peak of his tenure with the Utah Jazz. The play begins with a pass and a UCLA cut, often followed by a ballscreen. Ball screens after a UCLA cut are extremely hard to cover as defenders are out of position. Take a look at the base "Utah" play in the video, and see the diagram for 3 other options to go to once a defense attempts adjustments. See More
