Favorite Send to FastDrawFormer Detroit Pistons Head Coach Don Chaney ran this Zipper action to get a 1-on-1 isolation for Joe Dumars (2). See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawScreen-the-screener option out of the Oklahoma City Thunder's "Pitch" series. The OKC Thunder normally run this as a misdirection to get Carmelo Anthony an isolation at the logo area after he sets the down screen when x4 has to help as 1 comes off the screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA drill to breakdown transition into a 3 person game (rebounder, outlet, wing) in isolation and also against a live defense. Coach can adjust where outlet and wing are on the court based on philosophy. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Philadelphia 76ers summer league team used this end of game SLOB play to get Markell Fultz the ball in an isolation situation down 1 with 5.7 seconds left in the game. 2 (Fultz) rejects the screen from 4 and receives the pass in the corner with all other players at the free throw line or above, giving him good spacing to attack 1 on 1 for the final shot. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a simple set, which enables a team to get a post isolation. If the defense switches, the inbounder should look to throw it directly to the post player. If the defense fronts the post, the back side is vacated, allowing an easy lob pass. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw"Iverson Loop" is a misdirection set that can be used to get a shooter an open look, or isolate a skilled player. The Iverson cut clears out the weak side. When the flare screen is set, the passer must decide if he throws the skip pass to 4, or looks at the 5 on the slip to the rim. If the ball is skipped to 4, it is for a shot, or a wing isolation is created for the player to attack. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Cleveland Cavaliers ran this play multiple times in the 4th quarter of game 4 against the Toronto Raptors to get Kyrie Irving (1) in isolation situations for him to create. The Cavs used this play to help break open the game and extend their lead from 2 to 8. After 1 gets the ball, 3, 2, and 4 are spread around the 3 point line to give 1 space to operate. 5 is on the weakside block ready for an offensive rebound or a finish if his defender helps. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn Game 2 of the Spurs-Rockets series, in the 2017 NBA Playoffs, Popovich ran this ATO set. It is a terrific design, based on the fact that the Spurs love to isolate Kawhi Leonard (3). On the screen-the-screener action, it looks like an isolation, but is actually a "Hammer Action." This is a screen, to set up the baseline drift pass. It resulted in a wide open 3 for Danny Green, as the Spurs opened up a 10-point halftime lead in Game 2. Look for more isolation sets, and "Hammer Actions" from the Spurs, throughout the Playoffs. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHorns Set. Off the corner PNR action the screener receives the back screen moving hard into the ball side post on the opposite side for a quick pass and isolation action as the passer cuts away to the weak side taking away the help on the ball side and possible post double. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn the second round match-up between Kansas and Michigan State, Bill Self felt like the Jayhawks needed to get the ball inside. To start the 2nd half, they ran this set, which resulted in two points. The lob option, led to a high/low post isolation, which scored easily. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAfter Louisville's loss in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, Coach Pitino mentioned the challenge from keeping Michigan away from their right hand. Michigan is a team that prefers to drive right, and they do a great job designing actions that play to this strength. Michigan stretched their lead to 4, with under 4 minutes left, by running this set. It allowed Wagner (5-man) to get a right handed drive to the rim, as the Louisville defender worried about the action on the left side of the floor. The Wolverines also exchanged their weak side players, to occupy the weak side help. This set has multiple options, but eventually becomes a high post isolation. Look for more of this, as Michigan advances to the Sweet 16. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawButler uses this as their go-to play to get the into the post. The cross screen frees up 4 to get the ball and create a shot in a isolation situation. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawAt 14:40 in the first half, Purdue ran this quick hitter to get a great look on a post isolation from a high low pass. Swanigan, 5 in this case, is Purdue's go to post player, but he is also a threat to hit the three which opens up the lane for his counterpart, Haas, the 4 in this case. The action starts with a dribble handoff on the wing and ends with a seal in the paint. See More
