Basketball Play - Central Arkansas - Circle Motion: "Keeper" Duck In

Central Arkansas - Circle Motion: "Keeper" Duck In

Matt Hackenberg 01/05/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of the Circle Motion Offense. This set play comes from Central Arkansas, and has post up option. I like how the set disguises the action by running through the normal Circle Motion action, then breaks the pattern to provide a duck in. Basketball Play - Central Arkansas - Circle Motion: Basic Ball Screen

Central Arkansas - Circle Motion: Basic Ball Screen

Matt Hackenberg 01/05/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of the Circle Motion Offense. This set play comes from Central Arkansas, and has a spread ball screen evolvong directly out of the circle motion action. The ball screener really has to get on their horse to get to the ball screen for solid timing on this action. Basketball Play - Zip HO Step Up Hammer SLOB

Zip HO Step Up Hammer SLOB

Matt Hackenberg 12/16/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a longer form SLOB to create a three-pointer off of hammer action. Sometimes I love this set, and other times, I wish it would just get to the point. I really do like flowing pattern of the set, and hammer action is one of my favorites. All of the action is set up up well using screens to make sure players are open when they need to be. Basketball Play - 21 Series Transition Offense

21 Series Transition Offense

Matt Hackenberg 12/15/2021

The 21 series is usually a 3-player action that happens right out of transition. The bunch action makes the options easy to disguise, almost like play action fakes in football. There are a variety of actions that can come from this series, and they all develop quickly, making them ideal for teams that want to play with a fast tempo. Not all the diagrams are represented with clips in the video below, but this was all I could dig up on film. Basketball Play - "21" High Ball Screen Attack

"21" High Ball Screen Attack

Matt Hackenberg 12/14/2021

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a simple ball screen concept. We used this when we had two attacking guards we wanted to keep out front, allowing them to create by using a ball screen or rejecting into the gap. We wanted to keep shooters in the corners as much as possible. For as simple as the cocnept was, it was fairly effective against good competition. We started to add other options to make the offense less predictable with the zip and DHO options. Video clips below. Basketball Play - Horns Set Play: "Circle"

Horns Set Play: "Circle"

Matt Hackenberg 12/12/2021

This is a set play out of a horns alignment we use with multiple options. First, we use the alignment to let a playmaker attack and read the defense with the horns ball screen, roll/pop action. We want to play off the ball handler, and if we can't create a shot off the initial attack, look to play 4 around 1 with our big to get it inside. Then we look at a couple simple set options that play off of the base action. Video clip below.
