Favorite Send to FastDrawTake this continuous shell defensive drill to practice this year and I promise you will love it! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe double stack screeners need to set a good solid screen and the shooter needs to read if the defender is going to go under or over the screens. Having a good out of bounds plays can be the difference in a game. When you practice them make sure that you practice them full speed and talk about the different looks that the inbounder needs to make on the pass. This play is from the 2005-2006 Duke season. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great partner shooting drill you can use to foster competition and get a lot of shots up. Any number of players can participate depending on time available and records can be kept for total points as well as wins and losses. This is a good drill to end a difficult practice with since players will get a lot of shots up while tired. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat drill from Coach Mike Jones and Coach Alan Stein at DeMatha High School. We use this to set the thermostat at practice. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis action is meant to be quick and to get the defense out of position so that they cannot help as much on the side ball screen. If the big man is worried about the down screen and has to extend then he is going to be out of position to help on the ball screen. The man coming off the side ball screen needs to be aggressive and make a play for himself or a teammate. Set good screens on the baseline to get the opponents big man to have to help extend and then quickly sprint to the ball screen. Practice the right timing of this play. This play is from the 2007-2008 Chicago Bulls season. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's "Drill of the Day" is a drill run by Thad Matta's teams at Ohio State from the Shootaway Gun Drill book. This drill works on wing jumpers, defensive closeouts, passing and catching, and maximizes efficiency during valuable practice time. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawToday's FastDraw Drill of the Day is a Two Ball Denial Drill from the Coaching Toolbox. This drill is an essential drill for a team that plays a man to man defense where denying the passing lanes is an emphasis. The objective of the drill is to practice denying a guard to wing pass and still be able to cover a back door cut. See More
Favorite Send to FastDraw1v1 Slot works on the shoot or drive decision. I am a dribble drive motion offense coach so we worked on driving the slot, then our stride stops. We then turned into a small sided game by the passer closing out. Score it, put players on teams, but make it competitve: first player to 3 wins or seperate them into two teams and team with most points wins after certain amount of time or point score. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn today’s diagram and embedded video we look at a drill to work on getting your players to take longer strides while playing basketball. I believe longer strides allow players to be faster and cover more ground. I think drills like this help unlock a player's athleticism. This drill is a sister drill to Stride Out Lay Ups which adds lateral movement to the striding. Favorite Send to FastDrawWe use this shooting drill to work on our split cut actions when there is a post feed. We use coaches as extra passers in order to get more reps. We also always have a defender on the post player and will also progress to having the drill be 3v3. The defender will be instructed by a coach on how to guard the post. As the season progresses, we will let the defender choose and the offensive player will read the defense. Click here for more #PlayerDevelopmentWeek content! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawProgressive drag dribble series that starts stationary and works toward dribbling on the move. Great for teaching players to come off a ball screen and survey the defense if being hedged. From #PlayerDevelopmentWeek on the FMS Blog: Ball Handling Skills and Drills See More
