Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play has been a staple for years with any team that has Steve Nash at the point. In Phoenix, both Mike D'Antoni and Alvin Gentry ran this as a quick-hitter to get the ball into the post for an easy layup or dunk. Nash would set a screen for either Amare Stoudemire or Marcin Gortat and free them up at the rim. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is an excellent quick hitter the Sacramento Kings ran during the 2013 NBA Las Vegas Summer League. One of the options not drawn is for 4 to slip hard to the rim if X4 jumps out hard to help on the flare screen for 3. The shot for 2 is more likely in high school or college because X2 is allowed to sit in the lane and help, whereas in the NBA they can only sit there for 2.9 seconds. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great set used by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets during the 2011-12 season to get one of their wings driving hard towards the basket. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Indiana Pacers ran this quick hitter at the end of the half in Game 5 of the 2013 Eastern Conference Finals vs Miami. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawFence Curl Pop comes from Rick Adelman, which he has run both in Sacramento and with the Minnesota Wolves. Adelman usually calls this play out of timeouts when he sees something in the way the defense is playing screening actions. The play is designed to get a layup for a shooting guard or an open elbow jumper for a power forward. When Kevin Love runs this play for the Wolves he steps out to the three point line, making this an extremely difficult play to defend. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBlind Hit is a very quick backdoor option run by current UTEP and former USC Men's Basketball Coach Tim Floyd. Whether a defense is over-pressuring or caught napping, this is an effective backdoor option to get your guard a layup or dunk. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe San Antonio Spurs ran this play against the Minnesota Timberwolves three years ago in an end game situation. It was a simple yet effective play to get a layup, which worked because the defense had to respect Manu Ginobili coming off a flare screen. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBilly Donovan runs this play for a stretch-4 shooter (particularly ran it for Erik Murphy this past year) to get a quick three pointer in the corner. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play out of a 1-4 High set is one of my favorite quick-hitting sets, particularly in the end of a game. It draws up a quick three-pointer for a stretch 4 and an opportunity for a slipped layup at the rim. It's simple enough to be run at a variety of levels, provided your team has a solid decision-maker and passer who can play the wing. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a quick hitter that we used to run several seasons ago. It was called "Rondo" for Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics, who ran some similar actions. This set could be used as a quick-hitting set to flow into your normal offense, or it is also good action that could also be used at the end of quarter/half/shot clock. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawIn his coaching debut Friday night in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League, Steve Clifford ran this quick hitting curl-post play for the Charlotte Bobcats. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a set play that starts out with high stacks and morphs into a 1-4 set. This is a great set because it gets the ball swinging from side to side, has action going both towards and away from the basket, as well as a ball screen. You can also adapt this play so that 2 and 4 play pick and pop after the ball screen or you can pop 1 out for a 3pt chance off a stagger screen from 4 and 5 after 4 ball screens 2. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a quick hitter that can be run effectively against man to man so long as the offense reads the defense correctly. The effectiveness of this play lies in the screen the screener action that occurs between 2 and 3. 2 will always curl this screen looking to score, if 3's defender helps on 2, 1 should look to hit 3 in the short corner for a shot oppertunity. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Knicks ran this play in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Pacers at the end of a quarter. The play was designed to get a J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony ballscreen in space. The play was probably designed for Carmelo to pop off the screen and isolate on the wing; instead Chandler was wide open at the rim and Melo hit him for an alley oop. See More
