Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to get into the flex offense. The flex offense has stood the test of time. Every year I've been a head coach we've had a BLOB, SLOB or set play option for the flex offense. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to look to steal a basket with a slip set. Having the most lethal scoring option coming off the gate screen increases the chances the defense will overreact to it. I don't think it matters which of the two screeners slip, as long as both don't slip. They want to be watching their defenders, and if either one gets above the level of the screen, slip into the open space. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to throw the ball inside. It's only there when the post defender stays behind and player headed to the corner gets chased. If the post is fronted, the lob over the top may be there but is a difficult pass to make. If the shoter is not chased to the corner, the corner three may be there (next clip in video below). Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to burn aggressive defense on a blind pig backdoor. This play is sexy when executed properly, but it is better mixed in with other options out of the same set up, instead of being a stand alone set play in your playbook. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB that ends in a double flare screen. I think it's an interesting action, but maybe a set to save for use at the right time instead of using it often. I think the movement pattern has great felxibility to be paired with other options that look similar in flow, but don't use the double flare. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a longer form SLOB to create a three-pointer off of hammer action. Sometimes I love this set, and other times, I wish it would just get to the point. I really do like flowing pattern of the set, and hammer action is one of my favorites. All of the action is set up up well using screens to make sure players are open when they need to be. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to create a driving gap using some misdirection. Getting open on the flash is crititcal, and then selling the hand off before turning the corner to drive. Paring this with another action where the ball is actually handed off will increase the effectiveness. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to get into some screen-the-screener (STS) action. I like the action overall, but I'm not sure how much is added by swinging the ball and running the inbounder all the way across the play. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB to create a an empty side slot ball screen. I pairing of the flare with the slot ball screen really keeps the defense honest from side to side. Video below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a little misdirection stagger action. I like how the flow of the actions goes one way, and then the shooter comes open behind the play. I think this could be very effective in a package of plays that all started from the gate alignment. Video clip below. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB with a good amount of movement from a box alignment. I like the Chicago action for the DHO, and how the ball changes from side to side to set up the flare. Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this diagram and video clip we see a back cut on the gate screen action. I think this action is best paired in series with using the gate screen, using the gate screen and then slipping a screener, and some option after entering to the corner. So if I didn't have a gate screen series installed, I would think about this as a play to draw up in a timeout, or a rare special sitatution SLOB you don't use very often at all. Video clip below.
