Favorite Send to FastDrawIn this play from Bill Self, Kansas gets an open lob against a zone defense. 1 starts by dribbling to the right pushing 3 to the corner and sending 2 into the lane and back out to replace 1. Once 2 is on the perimeter, 1 passes back to 2 forcing the defense to turn and face the ball. With the attention off of 3 in the corner, he sneaks along the baseline as 5 and 4 screen up into the lane. 2 makes the lob pass to 3 for a dunk. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawJohn Beilein had a masterful game plan against the Syracuse 2-3 Zone and here is another example of moving players and the ball to get the best possible shot The Orangemen were consistently spread out by the passing of the Wolverines and had their fair share of open looks There were also many secondary options off the sets which created match-up problems for the vaunted Syracuse Zone Defense of Jim Boeheim See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a zone lob play used by head coach Jeff Culver at UCCS (University of Colorado-Colorado Springs). The UCCS Mountain Lions had an incredible season going 27-6 and winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship over Metro State. This play was used to get Derrick White (25.8 ppg) a dunk against a 2-3 zone defense. The play starts with the ball moving to the wing and back to the point guard. With White on the wing, a back-screen is set as he sneaks in behind the defense for a lob and a dunk. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Kansas Jayhawks used this play to start the game against New Mexico State's zone defense. The play starts with the Jayhawks in an overload on the right side of the floor. Mason (1) passes to Seldon (3) away from the overload. Ellis (4) moves towards Seldon as if he is going to set a screen. Instead, Seldon passes back to Mason and Lucas (5) screens the middle man of the zone. Ellis curls around the screen and gets the pass from Mason for a lay-up. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawRobert Morris just won the NEC Championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Back on December 2, 2014 we made the short 50 minute drive to RMU to play at the Sewell Center. We ended up winning the game by a score of 89-81 after one of the most offensive efficient first halves of basketball i’ve ever seen as both teams shot over 62% from the field. The second half we went to more zone in attempt to slow them down, and it worked. One of their counters to our 2-3 zone defense was to screen in the top defenders of the zone allowing their guard to split the defense and get in the middle of the lane. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWe had a chance this year to pull one of the bigger upsets in the Horizon League as we were leading Green Bay by ten points with under eight minutes to play. Green Bay ended up the season as the 2 seed in the conference tournament, and plays UIC tonight in the Horizon League Tournament Semi-Finals on ESPNU. Their PG #24 Keifer Sykes is their star player and has won league Player of the Year the past two seasons. Coming out of the media timeout down ten they ran this BLOB against us to get them back into the game and set up their press & 3-2 zone defense. They screened the bottom man of the zone so he couldn’t follow Sykes up to the elbow, and drifted their best shooter #12 Love to the far wing. When Sykes caught the ball it accounted for both of the defensive guards. He quickly reversed the ball to #12 Love and our top guard defender and bottom wing defender had to scramble to close out. The 5 on the reversal pass turns and seals the defensive center for an entry pass or rebounding position. This in my opinion gave them life, and was one of the biggest reasons they came back and beat us by 1. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe undefeated Kentucky Wildcats have seen alot of zone this year from either outmatched or teams that try to slow them down. This is a great Lob set with 3 options that creates mismatches against a 2-3 Zone Defense. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe turning point of our game on Wednesday Vs. Green Bay was when Green Bay went to their 3-2 zone defense. This is their defense they go to when they need to change momentum or they are on the ropes. Unfortunately for us down the stretch it did just that and they were able to come back and win the game. They attempted to go to it earlier in the second half and we had a set play ready for it. We executed it really well and got an open 3-pointer for our best shooter. Because of our preparation and execution we were able to pull them out of the 3-2 early in the second half. The play design gave our PG a screen forcing the corner guy of the zone to rotate up and play the ball. That then forced Green Bay's center to sprint out to the corner to guard our best shooter. We created a mis-match. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Cyclones run this BLOB play vs 2-3 zone defenses. A typical overload play to get the ball inside. As you can see in frame 2, X5 is forced to step up to the high post to guard the ball. X4 is left on his own guarding two players (5 & 2) at the same time. One of them will be open to recieve a pass. Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Davidson Wildcats use this BLOB play against 2-3 zone defenses. The entire outcome is based on a misdirection action. The two bigs set screens to get the shooter (inbounder) open. Then the action on the other side of the court occurs. A ball screen and baseline screen to either get a shot from the short corner or a seal inside. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe Commodores use this BLOB vs 2-3 zone defenses. It helps to put a shooter on the inbounder spot. This makes the defense closeout on his cut to the corner and opens up space in the middle for the two bigs. See More
