Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat pressbreaker to use against a relentless faceguarding press. The key is for the 4 to be able to make good, quick decisions. Touchdown pass over the defense to 2 cutting up the court will be available early. 5 can stay and set an open court screen for 2, but I think it works better to send 5 as soon as action starts. Favorite Send to FastDrawWe ran this play years ago when I was an assistant coach at Sentinel High School in Missoula Montana. This works great vs 2-3 zone. Key Point 1 - Swing the ball around the perimeter to shift the zone Key Point 2 - Timing is key, 3 should be coming off the back screen as 1 comes off ball screen. 1 dribble and throw it up See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great set to run out of transition or dribble drive. 1 can pass the ball up to the wing or dribble handoff to 2. 4 trails directly in to set an on ball. This is hard to guard for x2 who is managing a dribble handoff, traffic from 1 and x1 and then an on ball screen from 4. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWhen Terry Stotts needs a big 3, he has Lillard Time!!! Damian Lillard sent Tuesday's game vs. OKC to overtime with this SLOB stagger set. It also happens to be the exact same set that won a huge playoff game vs. Houston last spring. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThere isn't anyone better than Gregg Popovich. The Spurs ran this sideline set in the first half Christmas day vs. OKC to get Tim Duncan a clean post entry. The ball screen at the top of the key is more to keep x4 out of the lane than to create action for 1. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThe key to this zone offense is to get your baseline runner to buy in to the idea of crossing the lane on high post entry. I hope you like it and I hope that teams don't immediately change to man defense when you start getting layups! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a fantastic zone offense that can be run at all levels. It is the perfect "First Zone Offense" to be taught at the middle school or sub varsity level with easy setup and rules. There is also enough options that more advanced levels of basketball would see success with this offense. Options/Variations From 1-4 set, high post entry. Look for the post that did not receive the entry to dive to the basket. This is hard to guard at all levels. From the wing with posts at short corner/high post, high post entry. Look for the post at the short corner to cut across the lane to the opposite block. From the wing with posts at short corner/high post, skip pass. Posts can X cut or straight cut. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great quick hitter that puts a 2-3 zone in a few tough situations. This play works best if 4 is a threat to shoot the 3 at the top of the key. Once 1 initiates the play and swings the ball, quick ball movement and spacing put x4 in a spot where they have to figure out to whom they want to give the wide open 3. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis set was run by Wayne Tinkle nad the Oregon State Beavers 12/18/14 near the end of a huge first half vs. Depaul. What makes this play work is that #30 Schaftenaar had the hot hand and the play had the look of a post clearout. X1 and X4 have a miscommuncation, Gary Payton II has a lob dunk, and BALLGAME!!! Favorite Send to FastDrawDayton vs. Boise State 3/18/15 Shortly after the first media timeout, Dayton ran this screen the screener set vs. Boise State. (14:20 mark of the first half). The play got Darrell Davis a wide open look because he set a great screen for the 4 diving to the block and his defense stayed to help. This set should work with most personnel. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLoop is the inital action into Dribble Drive Motion. Spacing is key to keep driving lanes open as the guards dribble weave looking to attack the paint/drop zone. 4/5 mirror each other at the block and outside the top of the key. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawLoop is the action used when the 4 initially enters the Dribble Drive action and takes the place of the guard that passes them the ball. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawKansas ran this set at the end of overtime in their Jan 4, 2016 Big Monday showdown. They missed the potential game winner but the set was well designed. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis Princeton Chin set starts with a dribble handoff and quick reversal. As the guard comes of the backscreen, the 5 steps out for reversal. The guard who came off the backscreen then receives a downscreen for an open 3pt look in the corner. See More
