Basketball Play - Marquette Shooting

Marquette Shooting

null null 03/16/2014

This is a 10 player shooting drill with 3 basketballs and 1 basket. There are 8 total spots and shoot from each spot for 1 minute, for 8 minutes total. 4 midrange spots and 4 3 point shots. This is a good shooting drill for a team with 20 players in the gym. You can add other shots such as off the dribble. See More

Basketball Play - Dribble Handoff "1"

Dribble Handoff "1"

Scott Peterman 08/27/2012

Today's Man Set Play from Men's Basketball Hoop Scoop is from the National Champions "University of Kentucky". It is a great dribble handoff play to get your post player the ball in the paint in the dribble drive motion offense. It has a high low option possible situation at the end of it. See More

Basketball Play - 8-2

8-2

Daniel Murphy 10/18/2013

Use whatever defensive principles and offensive principles you teach. The defense can trap or play straight up. On a change of possession the offense goes to the last zone and each defensive team moves forward a zone with the first defensive team becoming to the new offense. Run this drill for 4-8 minutes and keep score. See More

Basketball Play - Florida - Continuity Offense

Florida - Continuity Offense

Keven Bradley 11/07/2012

This continuity offense provides an opportunity to get all 5 offensive players involved within the screening action. It also has provided us with a great "2nd offense" that is completely different than our offense that we run traditionally. If you have guards that like to post-up and bigs that can play on the perimeter, this continuity will be beneficial. See More

Basketball Play - Stagger Pick & Roll

Stagger Pick & Roll

Brandon Huntley 07/22/2013

Today's play is a Stagger Pick and Roll set used to give your team a few options against the defense. It is very important that your players see the floor as there will be three different options happening at once. Your best shooter should start with the ball at the top of the key. If you have post players who can shoot well from the outside, this play will use them as a decoy to open up the key on the pick and roll. See More

Basketball Play - High - Oakland

High - Oakland

Alan Peel 12/15/2014

This is a variation of the baseline out of bounds play (BLOB) "Oakland" that I posted some time ago. This play is run from a 1-4 high formation as opposed to a 1-4 low formation to take advantage of teams that like to play man-to-man defense against baseline inbounds plays. Basketball Play - Box Back

Box Back

Kyle Gilreath 08/21/2013

Gregg Marshall's Wichita State team ran this baseline out of bounds play versus Louisville in the 2013 Final Four. This play has multiple screening actions that make it nearly impossible to cover every option. To see EVERY play Wichita State ran in the 2013 Final Four you can do so in my eBook Championship Execution! See More

Basketball Play - Up Hand-Off

Up Hand-Off

Kyle Gilreath 03/13/2014

If you are in need of a three point play with the ball out of bounds, this is a great action to run for your shooter. 2 must do a great job selling the play by setting up his man before sprinting off the baseline screens. If the defense scrambles and overhelps on 2, look opposite as 1 may get open at the end. See More

Basketball Play - Shocker

Shocker

John Leonzo 05/03/2013

Here is a set that was run by Wichita State this past season from a box set. In this set, you have a good look to get your point guard a three point shot and if that doesn't get you a good look at the basket, it ends with an Americas play action that will hopefully get you a good look at the basket as well. Another great feature of this set is that it finishes in a 3 out 2 in formation so there is still great spacing on the floor. See More

Basketball Play - EOG Full Court

EOG Full Court

Kyle Gilreath 03/21/2014

With 2.7 seconds left to play in regulation, the UCONN Huskies had the ball, tied with Saint Joseph's, full length of the court. UCONN's Kevin Ollie drew up this dandy; unfortunately the shot was missed but the Huskies eventually won in overtime. See More

Basketball Play - Horns Elevator

Horns Elevator

Kyle Gilreath 12/04/2013

Last night in their buzzer beating loss to the UCONN Huskies, the Florida Gators ran this elevator play to revive their offense in the 2nd half. This is a play that ESPN Analyst Seth Greenberg talked about during the broadcast, breaking down the elevator screen. I drew the 5-1 pick in grey because it does not have to be added but is a nice tweak. In the event you need a 2 in this situation, a quick slip from 5 is also a nice option after setting the screen. Basketball Play - 1-Game

1-Game

Randy Sherman 05/30/2015

Four-Out continuity offense Tips for running 1-game: Make it your secondary break. Sprint off the rebound or opponent's made FG to these spots. When the ball is reversed, you are in 1-game After you pass to the high post, WAIT until they fully reverse. THEN cut hard right off their butt. (brush screen) It is the cutter's responsibility to time this. The high post is simply going to downscreen. When reversing to the single guard side, look for the overplay and backdoor cut When you have the ball at the wing DO NOT make pass to the high post until you have check the cuttter coming off the brush screen AND the screening post rolling back to you! Basketball Play - High - Up

High - Up

Alan Peel 12/15/2014

This is a variation of the baseline out of bounds play (BLOB) "Up" that I posted some time ago. The variation of the play in that it is run from a 1-4 high formation as opposed to a 1-4 low formation. We like to run this variation to take advantage of man-to-man defenses against our BLOBs.
