With just under 2:00 left in the first half of the 2nd Round of the NCAA Tournament, Wichita State ran this screen the screener action against the Miami Hurricanes. However, the Hurricanes did a nice job of getting through screens and defending this action, not allowing either of the two primary options designed for this particular set. The Shockers were forced to take a contested 3-point shot later in the shot clock after things broke down offensively.
1 dribbles to the middle. 3 fakes quickly to the middle and cuts out to the left wing. 1 passes to 3 on the wing.
5 back screens for 1 to cut to the left corner. 5 then steps out to the top of the key to receive the reversal pass from 3. 5 then reverses to 4 cutting out to the right wing.
2 screens across for 3 cutting to the block area.
1st Option: 4 passes to 3 coming off 2's screen for the lay-up or post-up opportunity.
5 down screens for 2.
2nd Option: 4 passes to 2 for the shot, coming off 5's down screen.
