Here is a 1-4 High set run by the Connecticut Huskies last season. This set allows you to put your best shooters and/or scorers in position to go backdoor for a lay-up, and then come off double stagger screens for an open shot.
1-4 High alignment to start the set. 1 dribbles towards 2 on the right wing. 2 v-cuts to get open and then receives the dribble handoff from 1 on the right wing.
As 2 receives the dribble handoff from 1, 2 dribbles towards the top of the key and then passes to 4 popping out. As 4 catches the pass from 2, 3 sets his man up by v-cutting and cuts hard backdoor. While 3 cuts backdoor, 2 cuts over to the left wing and replaces 3.
1st Option: 4 passes to 3 back door for a lay-up/dunk.
If the backdoor to 3 is not available, 4 will dribble hand off to 1. Simultaneously, 5 is walking down the lane toward the block.
1 takes the dribble handoff from 4 and dribbles at 2. 2 then back door cuts while 5 and 4 set double staggered screens for 3.
2nd Option: 1 passes to 2 cutting back door for a lay-up/dunk.
3rd Option: 1 passes to 3 for the shot, coming off the double staggered screens from 5 and 4.
