Basketball Play - Princeton: DHO Back Flare

Princeton: DHO Back Flare

Matt Hackenberg 02/25/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play for a flare screen. I like that this action clearly has an easy order of operations. After the hand off, read the back screen. If the back screen isn't there, check the flare screen. If the flare screen isn't there reverse the ball off the down screen. Basketball Play - Corner STS Stagger

Corner STS Stagger

Matt Hackenberg 01/24/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a set play out of a funky alignment. I like this set a lot. I don't exactly know why, and it seems like a lot of the other screen the screener actions I've seen but I like this one. The initial down screens should help the set run more fluidly against pressure defense. Basketball Play - 1-3-1 Zone Offense: Low Back Screen Continuity - "Bear"

1-3-1 Zone Offense: Low Back Screen Continuity - "Bear"

Matt Hackenberg 12/10/2021

This offense was implemented to help incorporate constant screening and cutting into a continuity offense. There are options to score on cuts, post ups, down screening and slips. We've found wrinkles and set plays from within the base offense that have been effective. Basketball Play - Zip Pin Duck

Zip Pin Duck

Matt Hackenberg 12/01/2021

In this set we go back to the interior for a set play designed to get a scoring post a touch on the block. The set uses a little misdirection by dribble pushing the entry away from where the post up will materialize. The dribble push triggers a zipper cut, and the ball is swung to a player receiving a pin down screen to be open. The post who pins down, then seals up for the post entry. Basketball Play - Mount St Mary's - Horns Split PNR Lob

Mount St Mary's - Horns Split PNR Lob

Rory Hamilton 03/19/2021

Mount St Mary's ran this Horns split action several times in their game vs. Texas Southern. This play incorporates a nice side split/screening action with the guards and finishes with a side PNR. The side PNR coupled is difficult to defend due to the weaskside down screen taking place at the same time. This type of action is seen a lot in the Princeton offense. Basketball Play - Drexel Dragons - Double Guards Motion

Drexel Dragons - Double Guards Motion

Garrett Hickey 03/10/2021

Great action by Drexel that can be used as a constant motion for younger players. If you watch them play you will see they have multiple calls out of this as well which include: 1) Ball Screens, 2) down screens, 3) more back doors etc. A lot of great stuff can come out of this. Basketball Play - LA Lakers - UCLA Swing DHO Pin

LA Lakers - UCLA Swing DHO Pin

Matt Wheeler 12/26/2019

The Lakers opened the second half of their Christmas day game against the Clippers with this play designed to get Lebron James (1) the ball off a pindown screen. 1 started the play by passing to 3 on the wing and making a UCLA cut to the basket. 3 immediately passed to 5 off of the ball screen, who reversed the ball to 2 on a dribble handoff. 1 then cuts off the screen from 4 to get the pass from 2. In this situation the initial actions were defended well and the Lakers went into a second ball screen and a high post flash in order to get a shot off. See More

CSKA Moscow - 1-4 Low Flex BLOB

Kostas Kalogeropoulos 07/26/2019

CSKA Moscow head coach Dimitris Itoudis ran this BLOB play during the 2018-19 EuroLeague season. First option is to have 3 post-up after a flex screen set from 1. Second option is getting 3 the ball on the move through a down screen set from 5. Third option is to have 3 as the ball handler and 5 sets a step-up screen with the corner empty (1 has cleared out). Basketball Play - Villanova Wildcats - Stagger Split BLOB

Villanova Wildcats - Stagger Split BLOB

Tony Miller 03/29/2018

The Villanova Philosophy: When 5 of your top 6 players shoot 39% or better from 3, you run as many stagger screens and pin down screens as possible to get those shooters open from deep. And if the defender shows on the second screen in the stagger, the 5 man slips to the bucket for an easy bucket. Final Four Breakdown: Villanova Wildcats - XsOs Behind the Dominance See More
