Favorite Send to FastDrawLast night the Cavaliers were taken to the limit against the Golden Bears of Cal. Tony Bennett designed three consecutive timeout plays each of which yielded a basket. This is the first of those timeout plays. Run from the SLOB situation, the play is set-up by the elbow screen action which gave Brogdon a chance to either "read" and cut to the basket or come back off the "re-screen" action for a possible jumper. Tony Bennett is known for his defensive strategies, but last night these timeout actions he ran with his Cavs only showed what a true mastermind of the game he is. See More

If the screen is set too close to the lane there is no spacing for reading screens. READ THE SCREEN Always look to read the down screen in our 4 MAN FLEX. This time the defender, X2 plays under the screen and the 2 man reads the screen and POPS OUT to continue the play. After EVERY down screen, the screener should open up to the ball for the post up. READ THE SCREEN Always look to read the down screen in our 4 MAN FLEX. This time the defender, X2 plays tight to the offensive player and the cutter CURLS TIGHT to the rim. The screener must change his angle for the screen. After EVERY down screen, the screener should open up to the ball for the post up. Favorite Send to FastDraw1 passes to 2 who passes to 3. Both 1 and 2 cut down the lane lines to the blocks. 3 passes to 5, then 3 and 4 screen in for 2 and 1. 5 passes to 2 on the left wing then screens down for 4. If 4 gets the ball at the elbow without a shot, he dribbles right looking to pass to 5 posting up or to 1 sliding to the corner for a shot. See More

Favorite Send to FastDraw1 dribbles to the left wing as 3 sets a screen for 4 at the top of the key. 4 cuts to the basket and 3 steps towards the ball. If neither option is open, 4 screens across the floor for 5. 4 then cuts around a staggered screen for 2 and 3. 1 looks to pass to 5 at the basket or to 4 for a shot. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawA DHO entry to Floppy will most likely be on the wing Guard to Guard. This means the point guard would speed dribble pitch the ball to the corner wing coming up. The wing will now become the point of initiation and the point guard will be come the activated player. This look most likely proceeds to be a back screening action by the strong side big. The popular version employed by the San Antonio Spurs involves a guard-to-guard DHO and a triple staggered baseline screen for Tony Parker who sprints the base line to find the scoring option on the weak side. Important to not the weak side wing must be the second screener I order to prevent a switch on the final screen, thus negating any type of advantage or open shot. Once the defense gets use to the triple baseline screen, Tony Parker will often times enter and exit the same side, thus showing us a DHO into a traditional Floppy Look. See More
