Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is a warm up/ progression drill we used when I was an assistant at Clarion University (PA). It is designed to sharpen full court passing and develop a touch and timing with personnel. Each 3-man group gets rotates to the 1,2,3 spot until all players have gone in each spot (rotate to the right). Once the team finishes Pass 2 Drill, then advance to the Pass 3 Drill. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a good rebounding drill that works on technique but also gets competitive and emphasizes effort on the glass. You can load this drill in many different ways. You can put points in the drill. 1 point for defensive rebound and 2 points for an offensive rebound. Have one team play for 2-3 minutes on defense then switch and keep track of points You can also have the rebounders play live. If offense gets it they play at that rim, if defense gets it they can play full court 1 on 1 See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is an early offense play shown in the full court. 1 dribbles up the right side of the floor as 2 and 3 both run the wings. 4 sprints ahead of 5 to screen for 2. 2 loops into the lane and times a screen for 5 at the free-throw line. 1 looks to pass to 5 with a lob or to 2 stepping out for a shot. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great full court drill which focuses on good passing and advancing the ball quickly. Players must sprint hard to each spot in order to keep the drill flowing See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWe use a 1-4 alignment in our Full Court Press Break Set. We call the set "Homerun" and out of it we have our Man press break calls and zone press break calls. Below is our very simple press break for FC M-2-M pressure. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a backcourt out of bounds play designed to handle a full court press with the ball on a side. We use the crossing action of #'s 2 and 4 to open up #2 coming up the floor. Otherwise, we look to read the screen set by #5 for #1 to get the ball inbounds. Favorite Send to FastDrawOne of the worst feelings as a coach is watching your team get pressed and turn the ball over. Conversely, when your press is wreaking havoc and you're getting easy buckets off your defense it's a GREAT feeling. If your team is not super athletic and you're playing an athletic team that employs an aggressive full court defense this is a great drill to prepare you for the tempo and speed of your opponent. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is a great end of game play for a team to use in a Secondary Break. With about 7 or 8 seconds left on the clock, there is enough time to dribble up in the full court and engage in this action. Likely it has to be a practiced and a default set; if it were to be drawn in a huddle for a late-game play it is likely the defense would apply some sort of full-court pressure, meaning more time would be needed to execute the set. Favorite Send to FastDrawHere is the set the San Antonio Spurs ran in Game 5 against the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. Having only 5 seconds to go 3/4 court on the sideline the Spurs went with a small line up. They put #9 Tony Parker at midcourt, and had #14 Gary Neal run off him first, and then #20 Manu Ginobili. With him setting two screens he was able to pop back to the ball and have a full court iso. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawWith 10 seconds left in their 82-81 Sweet 16 upset win over Baylor, the Louisville women ran this play against Baylors full court press. 2 was wide open but Louisville couldn't throw the pass because 6'8 Griner was on the ball. If you have an inbounder who is matched up with a defender of a similar height this could work for you. Make sure to have the inbounder step back off the baseline to improve the angle to get the ball over the defender. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawBLOG & PLAYBOOK - Chino Hills Huskies: The Scheme Behind the Ball Brothers In this embedded video and diagram we look at the half court offense of the 35-0, state championship Chino Hills team of 2015-16. If you're looking for tricky sets, this isn't it. Chino Hills kept it very simple, but got a lot of mileage out of these three simple concepts. Favorite Send to FastDraw"Box & Break" is a defensive rebounding drill at heart, but can also serves as a sudden change drill off turnovers and a conversion drill. The drill can be regressed to 3v1 or 3v0 or loaded to 3v3 on the break. Click here to check out all blog posts by Radius Athletics for FMS! See More
