Basketball Play - 04 Nets Lob

04 Nets Lob

Adam Spinella 08/19/2013

Richard Jefferson and Jason Collins connected on a fantastic alley oop in a 2004 game to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. The play, designed to get Richard Jefferson free at the rim, works well because of the amount of attention paid to Jason Kidd as their star player. His ability to serve as a decoy away from the basket was instrumental in freeing up space at the basket and getting Jefferson's man away from him. See More

Basketball Play - Base 1, Base 2, Base 3

Base 1, Base 2, Base 3

Randall Edens 08/19/2013

This is my 3rd set of BLOB plays...this time a Baseline Series. We like to go with 1 specific set up unique to each season and to disguise a handful of sets in the same set up. So far I have shared a "Shapes" Series and a "Letter's" Series. Hopefully these with small adaptations to your personnel and use vs. Man or Zone can help win the "Special Situations" portion of each game for you. See More

Basketball Play - Double Swing

Double Swing

Randy Brown 08/12/2013

Double swing uses the same action twice in the same set play. After ball is entered to 3, 1 cuts to block and uses 4's down screen to return to original spot. 2 and 3 again swing the wings, with 2 receiving three staggered screens to get open on the right side. After screening for 2, 3 empties out on the left wing. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - Portland Zip

Portland Zip

Randy Brown 08/12/2013

This play starts in a double stack with 2 cutting over the top to left wing and 3 underneath to right wing. On 1-3 pass 4-5 stagger screen away for 2 for shot. If not, ball is reversed to 1. 4 curls over 5 to catch ball in the paint and score. Give it a try! See More

Basketball Play - 2010 Suns Rub Fence

2010 Suns Rub Fence

Adam Spinella 08/08/2013

Suns Coach Alvin Gentry ran this as a catch and shoot set against the New Jersey Nets in an end game situation. With only 2 seconds remaining on the clock, Channing Frye, a stretch-4, used a well-set double screen, or fence, from Gortat and Nash to knock down the catch and shoot three. See More

Basketball Play - Scissors (dribble drive look)

Scissors (dribble drive look)

null null 08/08/2013

This is a common play in our area of Northwest Ohio that I'm sure is used in college and pro's. This play is great because it is designed to for a high post entry, and a "scissor" cut with 2 guards. You can get good looks for 3's off the scissor cut and double screen. This play also offers a chance to enter to the post player with a double screen and post entry, or the big can fake handoff to both players, and have a high post isolation. See More

Basketball Play - Florida

Florida

Alan Peel 08/07/2013

This is a play that can provide several options at the end of the clock. When teaching this play, it is important that you place an emphasis on taking what the defense gives you. They will either give you a two or a three based on how they defend the play. For more, check out my website www.coachpeelbasketball.com, sign up for a membership and get your first 30 days free. Basketball Play - Drag DHO Flare

Drag DHO Flare

Adam Spinella 07/28/2013

Quick three pointers and post-up opportunities that take place simultaneously can be very useful for a team that needs a bucket and can afford to shoot from any spot on the floor. Drag DHO Flare is a play designed to get a post up and a flare screen opportunity at the same time. This play designs a shot for 2 from the corner and specifically targets a miscommunication amongst defenders x4 and x2. See More

Basketball Play - Block Curls

Block Curls

Adam Spinella 07/27/2013

Jerry Sloan used to use this play in a BLOB situation to free up his shooters and create confusion amongst the defense. Because of the odd formation and amount of bodies in the paint as a result, Utah would get a free look from the periemter or catch a defender out of position in the paint trying to compensate for their team's poor defensive strategy. Basketball Play - Open Flare

Open Flare

Adam Spinella 07/24/2013

This is a great end of game play for a team to use in a Secondary Break. With about 7 or 8 seconds left on the clock, there is enough time to dribble up in the full court and engage in this action. Likely it has to be a practiced and a default set; if it were to be drawn in a huddle for a late-game play it is likely the defense would apply some sort of full-court pressure, meaning more time would be needed to execute the set.
