Favorite Send to FastDraw1 dribbles up the right side of the floor as 3 loops into the lane. 1 passes to 4 who passes to 2. 1 and 4 both move to the left elbow. 2 dribbles towards the top of the key and makes a pass to 5 at the pinch post. 2 then loops around 5 as 3 cuts up off of a double down-screen from 4 and 1. 4 then sets a flare screen for 1 who cuts to the left wing for a shot. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis is another option out of a Horns look. Entering the ball at the elbow initiates "Elbow" pinch post action. In this example, the ballhandler goes to the strong side, initiating Elbow Strong, or strong side split action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawStanford runs this variation of the Triangle Offense. They use the "pinch post" to flare screen for the guard. He then executes a dribble handoff which can turn into a backdoor on the overplay or two-man action. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawOrlando Magic Head Coach Jacque Vaughn ran this play last season for Arron Afflalo. As the team's best scorer, Afflalo could decide if he wanted the ball in the pinch post for an isolation or coming off a screen for a three-pointer - his two strengths. The play was a read-and-react for Afflalo, who read the defense and decided where he wanted to score. See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawDave Joerger used this play to utilize Tayshaun Prince well. Prince is a good ball-handler for a forward but lacks an outside shot; using him in the pinch post helped him find production on the court. The Grizzlies would run the play on this side of the floor almost exclusively so that Prince could dribble towards the dribble with his strong hand (his left hand). See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawGreat set with great pace, timing, and spacing by the Houston Cougars. A critical element is the PG's pace exploding into the pitchback from 4 at the elbow. This could easily be scored for a layup if open, or kept by 4 if well guarded and could still be run from there. See video in tweet below. Click for more Hammer Screen sets! See More
Favorite Send to FastDrawHammer plays are commonplace across the NBA, and Nick Nurse has several different pet plays that utilize this action. Typically run in after timeout scenarios for their best catch-and-shoot players, this play and formation is out of the “Triangle” and the Toronto Raptors' spacing reflects that. With a big on each elbow, the weak side of the floor forming a triangle with a guard in the deep corner and the other near the hashmark, as well as the ball handler initiating the play from the slot extended. Favorite Send to FastDrawThis play, a staple of the San Antonio Spurs offense for years, has become a pet-play of Nick Nurse’s to start the game or half. Put into the Raptors playbook in the middle of the season, this play is used for Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam, and Marc Gasol to get a post touch. The first option is for a post-up to score, but the second option/counter involves a kickout pass to leverage aggressive off-ball defense against itself. See More
