Basketball Play - Flat Back Dive BLOB

Flat Back Dive BLOB

Matt Hackenberg 01/18/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a BLOB play. I like that in this play the 2 players rising create more space to find openings for the back screen action. With less defenders in the equation, defensive slips can be magnified. If the rise players are not respected, there is an easy and safe inbound to them. Basketball Play - Flat Down DHO Back Lob BLOB

Flat Down DHO Back Lob BLOB

Matt Hackenberg 01/17/2022

In this diagram and embedded video we look at a BLOB play. I like this play as a way to create a lob for 5 or a driving gap for 1. The back screen happens quickly so the chances 5 comes clean off the screen is more likely. Basketball Play - Slice Stagger Wheel Clear

Slice Stagger Wheel Clear

Matt Hackenberg 12/31/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a set play to create a driving lane, but there are plenty of options before the driving lane. You can score on the back screen, the stagger screen, or even the second stagger screen. Many options, but if none of those hit, you have the clear out to explore. Basketball Play - Curl Lob SLOB

Curl Lob SLOB

Matt Hackenberg 12/15/2021

In this diagram and video clip we see a SLOB set to try to steak a quick bucket. With a solid screen by 1 against a defense that gets through screens, this can work. I like that 1 is the player setting the back screen, loosening up the defense so that they can go catch the ball if the lob isn't there. The lob pass is critical, so you want a trusted passer to making the decision to throw the lob or not. Video clip below. Basketball Play - Florida Gators | Five-Out Offense - Reverse Option

Florida Gators | Five-Out Offense - Reverse Option

Randy Sherman 12/07/2021

Here are some basic options used by the Florida Gators in their Five-Out Offense. First the REVERSE option where the Gators pass side-top-side then screen away. This unlocks curls, rejects and pop backs and links to some Princeton Offense concepts. A few years ago, I diagrammed this idea of taking some Motion Strong concepts and linking them with Point Series from the Princeton Offense. You can check out that playbook here. See More

Basketball Play - Box BS Throwback STS

Box BS Throwback STS

Matt Hackenberg 12/01/2021

It's always nice to have some sets up your sleeve to get your high level shooter a look from the outside when you need it. This set can be one of those play calls. Against teams that get through screens, it should work well as long as the shooter sets a great back screen. Against teams that switch, it's important that the last screener seal their own defender to free up the shooter. Video clip below. Basketball Play - Sweden WBB - Secondary

Sweden WBB - Secondary

Aaron Schuck 06/22/2021

Sweden women's team has been playing well in this year's EuroBasket Women. Here is some secondary action they run giving them a quick look off a cut from a back screen that flows into a double stagger for a shooter. If they do not get an early shot, then they play off the double stagger. See More

Basketball Play - Utah Jazz - Fake Burn

Utah Jazz - Fake Burn

Tony Miller 06/18/2021

Watch the video below to see Coach Tony Miller uses FastDraw, the #1 play diagramming program for basketball coaches, to break down this Utah Jazz set from head coach Quin Snyder which utilizes a “fake burn” cut. As Rudy Gobert (5) reverses the ball, Donovan Mitchell (2) makes the burn cut, but stops shot in order to set a back screen for Gobert to slip to the rim and dunk it home after the pass from 3. Great set to utilize both sides of the court and shift the defense. Send to FastDraw via the button above.
