Once 5 receives the post entry pass from 1, x4 double teams him 5. x2 now has to defend both 2 & 4 but was unable to take away the pass to 4 diving to the rim. If x2 was able to take away the pass to 4, 2 would be open on the wing for a three-point shot. See More

Favorite Send to FastDrawLoyola Chicago ran the best set play of the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. This "Punch Hammer" set resulted in a wide open 3, to tie the game, late in the second half. The post entry sucks in the help defense, before the baseline skip pass (HAMMER ACTION) led to the important 3pt shot. The Ramblers of Loyola Chicago went on to upset Miami, on a buzzer beater, and beat Nevada and Kansas State en route to the Final Four. Favorite Send to FastDrawSouth Dakota State ran this play out of a timeout to get a layup off of a handoff early in their game against Ohio State. 1 started the play by giving a dribble handoff to 4 and then cut to the corner. 2 slid up to the wing to prepare for the handoff. 4 follows his pass to 5 to look for a handoff. 2 gets the step on his defender, cutting across 5 for the handoff. As 2 drives to the basket 3 stays in the corner for spacing. x3 ends up having to provide help on the play but was too late as 2 got to the rim for a layup. See More

After passing to 4, 1 followed the pass looking for a handoff. 5 then set a flare screen for 2. This occupied the help defense on the right side of the floor, and isolated 3 against his defender. As 4 dribbled at him, 3 faked toward the ball then made a hard cut backdoor for a layup. See More
